Satan fight glitch while using controller (also, want to say most difficult part of game was door in robot factory)

Anyone noticed while using a controller (I used old school Xbox 360) at the last part of health Satan has, when he jumps at you, raises his arms and you move your arms to hold his sword, I tried walking, but noticed he didn't move back? Then after a few tries and then looked at the guides here I kept walking and noticed I walked past him! I just kept walking until Death came in the scene, the rest was just button pushing.

Also, as stated in the title the most difficult part in the game for me was getting the chemical to the last giant robot in the robot factory - the timing of the doors was a major league headache
