Railway Empire

Thinking of buying this over Railway Empire 2
I just think the $50 price tag for Railway Empire 2 is ridiculous, even when it went on sale it didn't seem like it was worth $45. My only question is how does Railway Empire 1 hold up in comparison to the sequel?

$50 is actually kind of low for a new release game. The big question is RE2 a better RE1 or is it a different game?

RE1 and RE2 are similar in many ways. RE2 in my opinion is easier to get into due to the signalling being automated.

I love playing both games but would start playing RE1 first as there is a lot of content in the DLC's so many 100's of hours of game play.

Definitely start with RE1. Most especially if you can get it cheap. Add the DLC's (again cheap) and you have many, many hours of play.

I haven't been keeping track of the new game much so that's good to know. Might look into it more once the first sale drops.

RE2 is better, but RE1 is also very good. If you want to save money start with RE1. And step over to RE2 later. If you take a look at prices during sales every now and then you can own them both for around half the price of a single game probably somewhere in 2024.

(I played RE1 over 2000h and got RE2 at launch; don't regret it; RE2 is certainly worth it's full price. Remember that if you buy it later the game is for you still new).

I've decided to give RE2 a try, If it's not worth it I'll refund it and get RE1 instead.

Both are largely the same, in my opinion. RE2 has bigger maps and more emphasis on macromanagement, but no map editor or customization / Workshop as of now, in contrast with RE1.
