Terminal Station

Hello, maybe im just on the very long line.. but what is the purpose for the Terminal Station?
I mean.. it has the same price then all other stations. The only difference is, you get 4 tracks less.

So where is the hidden gem, that fills this building with sense?

Terminal and Large stations have the exact same number of tracks: 4

There are a few cities that can be better served with a shorter, one-sided Large station due to lack of space.

Some cities are up against a river, lake or mountain.. so the track sticking out towards those obstacles would make even less sense visually or practically..
