Railway Empire
Civil War - Reach a population of 60,000 in Louisville.
I've re-started this chapter 4 times now and still fail. I've setup passenger trains to Louisville from a few locations, and cloned/copied them. But even in game slow mode (50%), I still fail. Please help!

Fundamental misunderstanding: population growth has nothing to do with passenger transport, but with the fulfillment of at least 60% of the goods requirements of citizens.

Too right, bring in the goods that the City demands to grow it. Passengers are just for generating income or meeting specific passenger goals.

Hey, this gives me a thought - a painful unfamiliar experience for sure. Is this the one task in the base scenarios that is impossible to achieve in half time without lucking into a Promoter? I suspect it was another scenario, but still ... the growth model was changed a while back. It used to be that City growth was either "on" or "off" with >60% FoD required for growth. (And very low FoD actually shrunk the City.) I don't know of any careful studies, but I think the growth then was a fixed rate depending on current population. A few months back, the model was apparently changed so that growth started at FoD > 60% but that the rate increased with higher FoD. Could it be possible now to grow whichever southern City it was that needed a Promoter to get the gold checkmark before? I've been too busy to play much recently, but that's giving me a little itch.

You're thinking of Gone with the Headwind and Atlanta, chaney ... seems you're getting old ;)

Adding a Museum at 60000 will help, as well as ensuring the city is supplied with a minimum of 60% of goods demand to keep it growing.

Starting off with "You're thinking" is an uncalled for crack. That is simply something I shall never do.

Thanks for the correct scenario, right, now I remember.

There is no "seems" about it, I've been a card carrying member of the Grumpy Old Folks club for some time now, you should recognize me from the meetings.

Thanks for the abuse :)

1st rule of the Grumpy Old Folks Club: You don't talk about the Grumpy Old Folks Club.
2nd rule of the Grumpy Old Folks Club: You don't talk about the Grumpy Old Folks Club!

But if you're not thinking, are these all my thoughts? Or am I just a simulation on some computer, Douglas? Eliza, please talk to me...

Btw Timixa, since Louisville is hosting the Induction station, where exactly should mathjazzrocker build a Museum? And no, mathjazzrocker said he has a problem in chapter 4, Civil War, [of the campaign]. He's a member of the rare species of gamers who refers to a particular scenario instead of giving a vague hint :)

Hi Thineboot - thanks - Fundamental Misunderstanding are my middle two names. I'll try your Goods tips next time I play the chapter.

Then it's a fine thing that we are typing instead of talking. I'll see you at the next meeting of The Society for Excessive Pedantry. (Slogan: We Know the Name is Redundant.)

Tell this my reading bot ;) Without proper warning it shouts out anything in public... I call it Turret bot - it can't spell correctly :)

To add something OT: mathjazzrocker, check out the guide this Grumpy Old Folks Club member has compiled. It's worth consulting it when you stumble upon your middle names again :)

@Thineboot this is working out - thanks :)
