minimum cars = 8 is my standard ;)
Then realised that the maximum cars was set to 0 - because the train used to run a different route and when I deleted some stations I forgot to reset it. It was forever running empty from the meat city to the Warehouse! *facepalm*
You're better off investigating why it's running empty, and redirecting it to a route that is overstocked and undersupplied
Example.. Delete a section of "track" which is at least one section ahead of a running train, using the "bulldozer" and the train will stop. This gives you opportunity to redesign a track, or offload the train to a side track for "storage", and creatively speaking, dont forget to use waypoints to steer a train where you want it before deleting the track ahead..
Example.. More extreme: just use the "bulldozer" to delete the train. It stops running without any doubts remaining whatsoever.. :) Take the refund to the bank.
Example.. Steer the train down a track with one-way signals, and steer another train head-on into it by switching the signals.. You get two-for-one stoppage bonus!.. Conflicting trains will definitely stop.
I think you will have an interesting time using these engineering loopholes. :)
I routinely check the profit/loss of all trains by using the in game "list on $' function which allows you to quickly identify which trains are running at a loss. Trains delivering to a warehouse can be ignored to some degree. If however when you get a message "no suitable freight" it needs to be investigated. It may be a temporary issue or a more long term issue. I tend to ignore the message for a while but will investigate if it persistent for a particular train.
well I investigated "no suitable freight", it was either no stock on the warehouse or the town that the train sent to no longer require extra stock from warehouse
still new to the game, lot of investigation to do XD
have fun !!!!!
