About the 'Down Under DLC'
During the first half of the 19th Century, the colonial territories of Australia are sparsely populated and consist primarily of coastal cities and a few smaller farming settlements in the remote outback. However, a series of events is set to spark an industrial revolution, one that will usher in an era of change for Australia and secure a lucrative future for the fledgling nation. In Railway Empire Down Under DLC, it is up to you to tame the unforgiving outback and expand your railway network across its wild terrain and beyond. Your railway will ultimately be the key to laying the foundations for flourishing cities and to connecting remote mining settlements to coastal metropolises. Are you ready to face the sun-scorched landscape of Australia’s Red Centre?

Features:
  • New scenario: ‘Pioneering Spirit’ (1830-1930)
  • Map expansion: ‘Down Under’ (available in Free Game and Sandbox modes)
  • Explore new territories: New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria
  • 3 new historical engines: Heisler (0-8-0). C30 (4-6-0) and Class S (4-6-2)
  • New goods to trade: seafood, Rail-O-Mite and canned beer)
  • 52 new cities to discover
  • New music, reworked city buildings and unique mission structures (e.g. Sydney Harbour Bridge)
  • Unique ‘Settlement’ feature for pre-determined locations
  • More freedom to establish new cities and personalise economic systems

Über "Down Under"-DLC:
• Neue Waren (u. a. Meeresfrüchte, Rail-O-Mite & Dosenbier) und 52 neue Städte
  • Neue regionale Musikstücke, neue Monumente wie die Sydney Harbour Bridge und neue Optik der Stadtgebäude für das australische Setting

Wouldn't 'cha know it. I step away for a second which turns into an hour. Yeah, it figures. I don't know what else to do. Restarting was the only way for me. For whatever reason, that did the trick. Did you at least get the original RE opening artwork, only upside down with the word AUSTRALIA in red, all CAPS? Does the game show up under the properties/DLC tab as installed?

Check out that link. That's what I got until I opted out of the beta and shut down and restarted. You haven't even got that. Hmmm... I don't know, maybe uninstall the game (after backing up your saved games) and re-install? Risky, I know. I've never done that myself. And you say you haven't actually shut down for 30 seconds and then restarted your computer? Like I said, even though it plays for me, achievements are still disabled. This is a major malfunction on Kalypso's part. I wish I had better answers for you.

Looks right to me, congratulations. Yes, the achievements are still locked even if you can play the scenario. At least for you and me that I know of. Not sure yet whether one will get credit for them (after they're earned) if the game says they're locked. I'll know here in a bit. Also I'll be watching the bottom right corner of my screen for the achievement pop-ups.

I think the achievements are hidden due to something on steam/the devs end. You still get them if you accomplish them, they just remain hidden until you do so (like how other games have hidden achievements). I just finished the Australia scenario and got the "Drop Bear" achievement for beating it. Part way through I also got the "Not emused" achievement for producing 350 Rail-O-Mite.

Its likely the Devs forgot to unhide them after the DLC released.

I want to play to dow under with the europpean loc no the us !! - -
Too bad, I know. I thought for sure they would have at least modified an existing train to give it an Australian look, although I'm not sure what that would be. Even the "theme" screen leads one to believe that there will be at least one new Australian train, again I'm not sure what that is. Surely they could have made a few European trains available. After all, does anybody really need the Mastadon or a purple Mogul?
mav12222 9 maj, 2020 @ 17:08
There are 3 new Australian trains with the DLC. It says so right on the store page:

Heisler (0-8-0), C30 (4-6-0) and Class S (4-6-2).
King Duncesky 9 maj, 2020 @ 17:13
You're right! I just looked through the train window and there they are. My mistake.

That's good news. Thank you for posting this mav12222! Still there's usually some oddball achievement like build 100 clocks, or passengers from here to there - Olso to Flensborg, Salt Lake City to San Francisco, etc. I want to know so I can get my 100% achievement rating back. I'll start playing the scenario right now, get what's given, and save between tasks.
mav12222 9 maj, 2020 @ 17:32
There should also be the obligatory President rank achievement for the Australia DLC scenario. Since there are no AI competitors in the scenario, it seems you need to play on Trainiac to get President rank. I only got to Office Manager with a full 20/20 time bonus and realistic track laying. Without AIs there is no competitor or difficulty multiplier.

It figures, typical RE horse malarkey! Say nothing and let the player figure it out. This is what passes for a challenge, figure out what they mean. And I just noticed too that I had a task to connect 8 cities, but it disappeared when I bought the rights to Victoria East. It just moved onto the next task list. Did this happen for you? Hmmm.... Maybe if that task is not completed, you can't get president even though you are still allowed to successfully complete the scenario. Perhaps one needs to finish the settlements in Victoria, that would make 8 cities, then buy into Victoria East if there's still enough time. Probably not, you're likely correct...I'll restart with Trainiac. What do you think Mr. mav12222? Oh, and thank you for posting! I am enjoying this added dimension of play.

I saw the optional 8 cities goal too, but since it disappeared as soon as I bought Victoria East (which I did early for the half-time bonus) I barley remembered it. I'm not sure whether it meant 8 cities in general or build all 8 possible cities in Victoria. I think its the later because I built and connected way more than 8 cities by 1900 (you need to build 5 for 1 goal and at least 2-3 others in later territory to access resources needed for other goals). I didn't build all cities in Victoria as other cities I built already unlocked all farms/mines.

Then again I have no way of knowing because the goal disappeared. My only indicator is that I finished all 8/8 tasks listed on the rating screen.

This is a fail from the devs. A multi-hour scenario without pause? Maybe that's okay for the Fortnite demographic, but I think the RE target audience shouldn't be self-harming by holding off on bathroom breaks for that long.
