Free Mode is limited? what can i do?

So im playing "Free Mode" and i reached the point where i jump to the next stage in time with more advanced trains, but it wont let me as i get "this option is blocked during this gameplay" messege. I dont want to play SandBox as i want to compete the AI and work with money and economy, and i dont want to play scenarios because they are limiting you to different steps.

So what can i do?
What mode can i play that is both limitless yet with competition and live economy?

I have the same issue. I love this game and gave it a positive review. But a mode to play the game from start era to end era would be fantastic

Surely this is a no brainer to the devs ? Unless im missing something ?

They're working on combining the five maps into one for free play, as well as making it so you can advance to different eras. Check the pinned thread.

There are some mods you can use in the meanwhile, but they're not balanced because right now, the different eras weren't designed to be used all at once, so the trains have mismatched speeds among other things.

yep they had a thread where the whole USA with the full development of all trains and stuff together in one big map

I dont mind the split up territories, just being able to play the entire timespan would be a MASSIVE improvement

I also hope that they add the states of Washington and Maine also more Florida cities would be nice

correct, we are currently working (among other things also listed in this thread :) ) on a Free Mode, with a North American Map as a whole as well as full tech-tree.

I can't get Auto Manufacturer to unlock in Free Mode no matter what I do. Steel Mill is as far as it will go. I can have 3 Steel Mills, 2 Chemical Plants, 3 Refineries and 3 cities over 100,000 population and Auto Maker still won't enable. It's frustrating.
