They really should black the screen out upon that menu.
People without disabilities will never understand how elements of game "design" force persons who aren't 100% to avoid their game simply because they can't physically play it like everyone else.
Then they patronize anyone who can't keep up by giving them "easy" mode and a pause that works completely bass ackwards. Forget being able to play the game like everyone else, the game design inherently prohibits it, alienating anyone who isn't "capable".
Then they wonder why they don't sell more copies...
It's like putting your grandma in a race car by herself and wondering why she can't win Le Mans.
Cheers..!
I always use the pause. It's either that or stop all the meds, drink at least 5 cups of coffee within an hour and keep 911 on everyspeed dial within arms reach with panic buttons hung from my neck.
:)
Wish I had a cartoon of that image. :)
I kind of hate every hitting pause just because it breaks the flow of the game, on the other hand non-paused games are way to fast to enjoy as an RTS. By mid to late game you have to ignore 90% of the content because there's no time.
It's a single player game who am I competing against?
Many of the game achievements are based on your ranking - i.e. completing scenarios as president - so scoring does matter in single player.
Plus, there are leaderboards on the game too, so there is in fact some indirect competition, even if the game itself is strictly single player.
If you do not care about the achievements nor the leaderboards, then your scoring should not matter much, high or low.
It does matter. The problem is the game developers think otherwise. How am I to compete against myself if I can't play the same game every time? What I mean is one game I have to pause 10 min, the next 20, etc... This effects my final score based on how long I paused. Stupid game design. :)
