Express Bonus issue [SOLVED] - I think though still puzzled

I'm really confused by the Express Bonus thats popped up in my current campaign game.

It claims to be payable when I create an express line between Grand Rapids and Toledo.

So, I've done that,

-Built a 0% Gradient track

-Created a Passenger Train with an Express Locomotive faster than every other locomotive on my network, by deliberately not updating the other lines.

-I've made it Passenger Only and limited it to 2 cars/

-I've crewed it with my best Engineer and Stoker (+15% Speed Bonus)

-I've even added a Caboose boosting the speed bonus to +18%

I've watched this train go back and forwards for weeks sometimes reaching 60mph, but the bonus still hasn't popped. What else can I do?

I think this issue just resolved itself though not as I expected.

The Express Bonus has dissappeared e.g. It is no longer on offer.

But instead of seeing a bonus payment notification adding $413k to my bank balance the only odd thing that happened was that an Inventor appeared in my Personnel Tab. I already had one in there that I had decided not to hire as she cost over $500k and only gave me 120 points of research. But this new guy was completely free (no salary) and provided 130 Research points. So, I figured it was a no bvrainer to hire him for nothing but was expecting some sort of catch.

So, I clicked on him and it said $413k, and I thought for a minute I'd just been conned into hiring him for that, but then I noticed my bank balance had shot up to over $660k. So, basically he paid me the bomus plus 130 x Research Points.

it doesnt matter if you have other trains of the same type, you can have 100 express trains a time, but they have to be the fastest available... (no better research done by anybody). then the warning says: express line in danger! so you can update other lines.

theres however a BUG on the little gauge that tells you close you are at being an express line. which is somtimes not correctly displayed.

I was getting the warning on my other trains, but not this one so I assume that the AI was not using American's. Anyway it popped eventually just not in a way I expected it too.
