Automobile Scenario on midwest map is broken
I have tried this map 20 times now. i get stuck on delivering 30 steel.

The thing is that this map is so spaced out so even when i get iron and coal to a town ( And the town with the steel mill is always chosen at random so i cant plan ahead. )
When i transport the Steel to chicago for my automobile factory i will just deliver 16 pieces.

Because i also i gasoline to start production so i can take in more steel.
Also, Oil well for Gas is on the other side of the map, the cheapest track i have laid from a town to an oilwell is 400k, 500 if counting the stations on both sides.

Okay so i got Steel shipments going out and Gasoline as well.
Well now i have to ship my automobiles right?
But there are no towns with demand for automobiles, they have been starving for years while i have laid tracks to get materials.

All this needs to be done by 1913 so i dont fail the scenario because of the steel thing.

I have only tried this scenario with realistic track mode, but this takes the game from hard to impossible. My experience is 40 hours of Beta and 36 of released version

Btw: Rocky Mountain Scenario is also way to hard.

I just took a look at it -- it looks impossible.

I've found that connecting Chicago to Toledo right away will 99% of the time produce a steel refinery in Toledo. You can transport coal from the south and ore is close to the north. Haven't figured out which city consistently produces an oil refinery but I'm leaning towards Louisville right now. Need to experiment more.

This might help you =)

Place a waerehouse and deliver there, that counts as delivered and gives you room for 99 of a good (enough to work through the deliver x tasks).

Gives you time to organise yourself and then deliver from there later.

Thanks for the help. I was just about to try a warehouse to see if that counted.

Remember you can demolish industries you own. Look for a town that's closer to the raw materials, buy an industry that's not being used and replace it with the steel mill.

I run the Island to Rochester and have yet (knock on fake wood) to not get a Steel Factory in Rochester. I leave money aside just in case, but so far I haven't needed it.

For Fuel I place a factory in Louisville and run the oil. If Louisville jumps an industry early, or if I get caught dilly dallying, the Island can take one instead. Last play through it generated one for me. It's not much harder to to ship oil there.

As long as I can get the direct steel and fuel to Chicago and then Toledo hooked up the steel flows just fine. If I delay getting the Autos moving, the steel stagnates and I don't get enough of it delivered. Happens when I get ahead of myself and over extend...

Cheers..!

I delivered 30 steel on Dec 25th 1912... it's tough. Trick is to get cash early on and create a gasoline industy near an oil well, and steel near coal and iron ASAP. then create a auto factory in the middle of those 2 locs

This is a hard scenario for a reason. You can not simply throw cash at it and win.

It aint a matter of getting the money to build the steel factory and produce the 30 loads. You need to have somewhere to ship it to. After all if nobody wants it, you cant ship it.

So you need to get a jump start on the auto industry. You need to get a gas refinery and deliver it to Chicago to make cars, then you need to ship those cars to Toledo to the auto export. Then that creates demand for your steel to be able to haul it.

The hard part is going to be getting all of that set up AND beat the timer to get 3 cities to 120,000 population.

Another good video series on this scenario: https://youtu.be/WGll7iu6pQ8

I was having a hard time with this one too. Thanks to your suggestion, I was able to complete it.

This may have been patched out. I delivered over 30 to warehouses linked to towns and none of it counted. Perhaps the town has to draw from its linked warehouse for it to count.

I recall that the task was corrected to require delivery to a City to count, not just to a standoff Warehouse. I'm not certain, but I think the City had to accept the goods to count - not just have them sitting in a connected Warehouse. This is from unreliable memory.

i find it way harder to get 360k pop. anyway this scenarios are too hard, that really annoys me, there should be an easy medium hard difficulty for each map.

Mission complete.

Rush to Rochester, hopefully a steel mill spawns there. Then pass through Madison to ship to Chicago.

Then, I guess I made in toys in Madison too. That helped both the steel shipping and growth.
Also, it helped me put off building a refinery until a couple months later since I already had a use for the steel.

Oil comes from southwest so whatever city you want down there..

I hadn't gotten Toledo to 200k yet. Didn't need to for president with normal pause.
