Had a bit of fun lately where I didn't try to make the game anything it's not. When I don't have any "idealist" notions of maintaining properly etc. I tend to play it like an arcade. The reason why I believe it feels "natural" as an arcade is because of the high level UI and lack of immediate control over your train's actions. The positive is that with this play mindset I can overlook almost all of the bugs. :)

You can do trickery via manipulation of trains, including real teleportation to earn millions in a very short amount of time. I reported exact steps to reproduce this and it hasn't been fixed. I assure that it's a very fickle thing. There is no hint in the UI of what will work or not.

Even a thing as simple as re-assigning a train to a different route isn't a "supported operation". You can do it, but it wont load at its first stop. There is a "hack" to make a two stop run load: catch the train at exactly the moment of starting the load process in the station. The trick is to swap stops in the route list, confirm, then swap them back. These clicks need to be done at lightning speed. If the train rolls out of the platform before you finish, it's also doing an empty run. In such a case you can try to reset the train, maybe it will work or you can try to repeat the process.

Also awhile back I looked at unforced plaforms behind a single X-crossing behavior. Which track would the trains prefer, right or left? I ran a hundred or two test cases. There was no pattern of predictable behavior. Of course there is no clue in the UI. I conclude that there are some hidden factors of which we could only imagine which will ensure at the detailed level an unpredictable behavior. So in other words, it's not good for your sanity trying to work around high level UI to do detailed actions. Which is a bit of shame because I hoped for a long time that beneath the skin we could find some underlying predictable behavior.

Anyway, just to say that there is a better trick than dozing the track to reset a train. Doze the signal it is occupying instead. This will be the 2nd signal up the line and you will need to click twice to confirm that you want to reset the train. The plus here is that other trains shouldn't be effected. Also, signals are free and quicker to rebuild than track. You can teleport empty trains this way. ;)

RC is the better one IMHO have both. COOP mode with friends is so much fun. If you liked Sid's interaction RC is the way to go.

I already had Railway Empire 2 for a very long time and accidently bought Railroad Corporation 2, thinking it was by the same people. (Didn't do any research.) When I got Railroad Corporation 2, I was immediately disappointed. "What the heck is this?" I was confused, and quite possibly even bamboozled.

If you're wondering which game is better, I would suggest Railway Empire by a long shot. Laying track is easy and more interesting as you have to traverse mountains and valleys. There are more hills to make you think, "What is the best and cheapest way to lay my track?" It's actually a fun challenge. You also have AI competitors that will take up different towns and such, so you have to reach out and expand before they do.

As for Railroad Corporation 2, there is a lot of flat ground and you're also able to have your trains go over mountains instead of through them to save money. (No challenge, just throw track wherever...) There is no challenge with AI, you can just expand at your own pace. There are still glitches with early release, which I only played for a few hours and found quite a lot. Track clipping, Cars added that you did not ask for, Bridges look ugly, again you can run trains over mountains for cheaper track laying, and quite possibly many more. Graphics are also uglier, but who knows, maybe I had the settings on low graphics.

Anyways, that's my opinion. Railroad Corporation 2 is alright if you are into tycoon clicker games and don't care about things looking good. Railway Empire is fantastic for somewhat realistic track laying, a challenge that is adjustable, and the fact that you can zoom in and see people. YEAH, YOU CAN SEE ALL THE LITTLE MIGITS RUN AROUND!
