Hi robart.howard,
please be aware that Windows 10 needs more resources in general compared to Windows 7.
Therefore, please share your system specs (OS+bit, CPU, GPU and RAM) in addition, to get this properly sorted.
Thanks in advance.

win 64 with rizon 5 cpu with 16 gig of ram can't find gpu instalation disk but the gpu is 4 years old

Many have found graphics setting make a huge difference - VSYNC on, reasonable FPS (which I think is set very high by default.)

An FPS of 60 is a good starting point. Going higher might give you a nicer picture but it will drive the GPU harder.

Have you updated the software drivers on the GPU (graphics card) since you got if? If they are the original 4 year old drivers that came on the installation disk, they almost certainly need to be updated.

You should also think about buying a new graphics card. 4 years is too long in the graphics card market and tech. You can get new cheap ones for under $100 and new good ones around $150 to $170 (and up) (Really good GPUs can be a LOT more) . I bought a NVidia GeForce GTX 1050 ti with 4 GB of video memory at the beginning of this year and am quite satisfied with it (since I do NOT play games like flight simulators that put a heavy demand on the GPU and need a lot of fast 3 D ray tracing. Those GPUs are expensive). It runs a lot cooler than my old 960 with 2 GB video memory which was about 4 years old. There is a very large market with many products from several manufacturers to choose from with constant changes. I am using Windows 10 on a system with a i5 quad core CPU and 16 GB RAM. RE seems to run well on this system and GPU.

FWIW, I'm satisfied with the graphics using an integrated Intel setup on a laptop. I'm sure things are not as smooth as a newer higher powered setup, but it's fine to me.

At the least, he should make sure his graphics drivers are up to date. That requires no $ just an internet connection to the maker of the computer or the inbuilt graphics, or of the graphics card if he has one instead of inbuilt graphics on the mother board.

I decided to see if we could get several (or more) players to run a friendly speed comparison for running RE on various systems, Windows versions, and GPUs and CPUs. I started a new thread for it. This is intended to be a friendly comparison test, NOT a MY system is better than YOUR system test comparison. There are so many different computer systems out there being used to run RE, it is hard to know what is good or poor performance at running RE.

I have noticed starting with Grand Ages:Medieval that Kalypso (Gaming Minds) games can make your graphics card run fairly hot from all the calculations being done on the video card, compared to some other games. It is probably running about as hot as Sid's Civ VI most recent version on my system.

My present graphics card will change from the low to mid 30* C range up to around 70* C range when I play RE. My previous graphics card ( a NVidia GeForce 960) might go into the high 70* C range when playing RE.
