SpecOps The Line not working on windows 8.1 any help/suggestions?

So i recently bought sPecOps The line when it was on steam sale and i downloaded it to laptop which was running windows 8 at the time. It worked perfectly fine and i could play the game normally. After the windows 8.1 update my computer no longer ran th game, let alone start it up. It crashes before it even gets to the title screen, and often can not be closed (one time while using task manager, task manger wouldnt show up so i had to completly restart my laptop). Does anyone else have this problem? Or does anyone have any suggestions on how it can be fixed, becasue id like to play the game, as i had just started it and liked what i had played of it.

Try to run as an administrator. It always works. Or run in compatibility mode.

in Windows 8.1 you can downgrade the way to run your app.
try running it as windows 7 or vista

I tried running as admin but it stills comes up with errors and crashes... Any other suggestions? Also how do i downgrafe the way i run an app?

Try verifying cache.

I had the same issue (installed the game on 8, upgraded to 8.1, and could not launch the game).

I fixed the problem by doing this:

Right clicked on the game in my library
Went to Properies
Went to Local Files
Clicked "Verify Integrity of Game Cache"
After the files checked out, it automatically downloaded a 7.3 megabyte update

Presto, the game worked.
