Game doesn't launch, at all.

I have played the game for a bit (I have about 2 hours now logged on it). I went to play it and the game will not launch. I opened task manager and watched the process as it opened. It stays open for about 4 seconds and then disappears. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Did you try verifying the cache? Do this by right clicking spec ops in your library, click properties, the local files tab. Verify integrity of game cache.... hope this helps.

did everything possible ... verified cache , updated my already up to date drivers , ran as admin , get a crack ? lol , disabled anti virus .. WHAT ELSE TO DO .. this game is racist , just becuz i live in UAE it doesnt wanna work ... how ironic

Same using latest Windows 10 build. Tried hours of troubleshooting. Reinstalling PhysX even though on a AMD GPU is a popular fix from googling. My build:
OS: Win 10 64-Bit Build 10041
CPU: Q6600
GPU: HD6970

Latest DirectX and PhysX installed. GPU drivers up-to-date.

Attempted all compatability options with no luck. Also attempted adding -windowed option, disabling Steam overlay, running as admin, verifying cache.

Only option I can think of is rolling back to older GPU driver

Updated to GPU driver 15.14 beta for HD6970 - Same issue. Downgraded to stable GPU driver 14.12 I believe - Same Issue. Same issue. Tried all the steps again with both those drivers. I also tried to force the game to open with DirectX 9 but did nothing. I'm done with it now unless someone can come up with possibly another fix.

Edit: I also tried a pirated version to see if it might possibly be something to do with Steam but still get the same error. So that rules any Steam issues out

i contacted them more than once .. they told me i should wait for the final build of windows 10 , but srsly .. WHY Y NO SUPPORT WIN10 ? are they expecting everyone to stay on xp or 7 ? lol

Ha so it's a Win 10 problem according to them? Well I guess compatability mode is just something MS made up then. All my other games run on Win 10 so there isn't a backwards compatability problem. It's an old game, I doubt there will be any updates when retail Windows 10 is released

I have Win 8.1 and the same problem. Sometimes I manage to run the game but more often I fail.

OK so just an update on this in case it ever happens to someone else.

It eventually worked for me after updating to a newer build of Windows 10 so it must have been that problem all along.

same here , updating to the early RTM of windows 10 (codenamed TH1) made the game work for me ... for once .... now its not working , stating that there are some files missing even after reinstalling and validating files :DDD , im not into the game anymore xD

Decided to play it finally... aaand SURPRISE! the same ♥♥♥♥ happens (cache verified, latest drivers, bla-bla-bla) Win7 x64, Radeon 7970, Intel i3. Google knows nothing =( WTF!

If you installed the game on older Windows version and then upgraded to Windows 10, you might need to reinstall the DirectX runtimes. This can be done by running \steamapps\common\SpecOps_TheLine\DirectX\DXSETUP.exe.
