isnt this third person?
And to answer the original question: I bought the game when it was on a -80% discount because of the anniversary of 2K. I played it trough and actually enjoyed a lot, I'd recommend it ;).
Its the best game I will never want to play again
Why?
Oh, you shall understands...
It's a short game, yes, but not three hours short. I mean... you can probably beat it in that amount of time, sure... if you play on Easy and rush through it and skip all the cutscenes.
Of course, I suspect the same people who do that are probably the same ones who then come here and complain that they didn't understand the story and couldn't relate to any of the characters.
If you're actually playing like you're supposed to (ie on harder difficulty, paying attention to the story, and not trying to "speedrun" through it), you'll probably get 6-8 hours out of it.
Which is still kind of short, but actually feels about right for this type of game. It delivers it's message without feeling overly long and drawn out.
Actually this game is pretty brutal... It's absolutely underrated however. I'm trying not to spoil anything but it's absolutely worth it. The story is grim, dark and strange. Every time I think I have it figured out, it twists again and I'm back to square one. Which with this game is questioning yourself, your morals and everything you know.
Tried playing it again, and really loving it.
Have still not finished yet, but know already I will play it again to see how the game plays differently if I make different choices.
As a game, above average 3rd person shooter, decent graphics and a very unique environment.
As an experience though, already it has made me stop in my tracks on a number of occasions and question what to do next, and the choices I am making.
I will not ruin it for you, but best I can say is the most surprising game I have played.
Oh and do not reload a level to change your choices, live with the consequences ;)
Play it in max difficulty level else it'll be too easy.
Very good military shooter, arcadish, with a disturbing dark story..
I cant help but feel I wasted 5 hours in some apocalypse now redux extended cut that actually expected me to press w all the time to keep on movin forward and feels prowd for being a glorified quick-time-event.
Thats the only good thing about the gameplay though, it doesnt have the now mandatory qtes or "you have to do one thing 200 times in this game? lets make the animation last for 20 seconds and also make it unskippable!"-thing (like the heavy beams in thief - oh how I loved pressing those away 50 times...)
the loading screen texts are also nice.
Story: 8/10
Gameplay: 5/10
Overall: 6/10
If you're not playing it for the story, I wouldnt bother.
