Help! I can't change the game's resolution.

I recently purchased this game on sale about an hour or so ago. Some snooping on the internet has yielded little results for me. Here's a synopsis of my issue.

The game's default resolution is not native to my monitor. Upon my attempts to change the game's resolution from the game menu's graphic settings, the game crashes shortly afterwards. A large black box takes up part of my screen, but I can stil operate my computer as normal. It's as if a piece of black paper were put over my monitor, covering up everything underneath it.

As a result, I cannot use the task manager to close the game, and right click and closing from the taskbar doesn't do anything either. I am forced to restart my computer.

This is incredibly odd. I can't say I've encountered anything similar.

Thoughts?

All I can tell you is that your problem isn't unique. I came here looking for a solution to the issue as well. Will report when I find a fix.

Okay, my problem seems to be that I'm using a widescreen TV as my monitor and the game doesn't natively support widescreen. The problem was remedied by adding [-windowed] as a launch option.

hi, im havng the same problem.. i go to change the resolution on it, then it just goes to my desktop with a Black box covering most of my screen forcing me to restart, any ideas? i cant find anything on the link you put up...

I know this is really late, but I just had the same problem and I fixed it by pressing the escape key instead of clicking back. If you never solved it and this helped, please let me know.

Go My Dokuments - My Games - Spec Ops - SRGame ---- > delite the ini files and start geame. Game will load and copy the default ini files new to the SRGame folder. Change resolution

Try run the game as administrator. Right click on SpecOpsTheLine.exe and then 'Run as administrator'. Worked for me

Destiny, if your issue is not solved yet, so try this solution: click on properties of the game in Steam. Chose "launch options". Add this parameter:
-windowed
Now you can start Spec Ops in a window mode. So it's possible to change the game's resolution in options.

si, pude hacerlo funcionar en modo ventana, pero cuando cambio la resolución el programa no responde

he intentado ejecutarlo como administrador, con compatibilidad para win 7 y el problema persiste
