The Historical and Cultural Context of the Demon Statue of Liberty?
Hello everyone,

I was just doing a replay of Spec Ops: The Line and I noticed that there was a wall painting of a demon like statue of liberty draped in the american flag. There are clearly allusions to american imperlism but does anyone know if the actual demon is a reference to dubai or middle eastern folklore/mythology?

I would post a picture of the demon but I am not sure how to do that on Steam. You can find the picture in question by searching for the word "Demon" in the screenshot section.

I saw that too. It also appears on the loading screen of the WP sequence, holding a weapon with burning soldiers beneath it.
I think it's more of a critique of modern shooters, where "Airstrikes" and the like are some sort of ultimate power fantasy where ennemies are reduced to white blips on your radar and you become a God having right of life and death upon them.

It has to do maybe with the irony of USA forgein actions. While they claim that they belive in freedom , they destroyed countries with that excuse. ( the invasion of irak, hec, maybe even vietnam)
