Contoller or Keyboard and Mouse
So I just bought this game and have it installed and I was thinking since this is a third person shooter they generally work best on a controller or is tthis game an exeption to that rule I don't know which is better?

play only by your style. If you can handle the game better with Gamepad, use it. Works both. Only with gamepad, your tourn speed is a litle bit lower. But both is effective to play.

Spec Ops: The Line is your typical third-person shooter with extreme bias toward console-style controls. This game plays very similarly to Gears of War and Bulletstorm, if that helps you to understand the gameplay style a little better. Everything works better in this game when using a gamepad controller. Everything, except aiming, of course. Mouse aiming, in this game however, isn't much better though.

If you've ever said to yourself, "Gears of War would've been a hell of a lot better if I could just use a mouse and keyboard"....then this is your chance to find out.

I'm currently using a mouse and keyboard to play, but I had to change a lot of the hotkeys around to suit my play style. For example, I always use the Mouse 3 reload, and I never use the Left Ctrl button for anything since I hate doing finger gymnastics while I'm trying to play.

Thanks for your advice and I like how you commented on Gears of War so I might just play on a controller

I just started playing this and the controls are driving me baddy. I'm someone who generally prefers controller but might lean towards mouse and keyboard for military shooters and this one has issues with both. The turning and aiming with the controller is just horrendous, but if you play with mouse and keyboard it DOESN'T TELL YOU WHAT ANY OF THE MOUSE AND KEYBOARD BUTTONS ARE, and the mouse movement is hyper-sensitive with no option to fix it. Controller aiming is all over the place though (moreso than many other shooters that I've been able to use a controller just fine on).

Well I guess this thread is a few months old but that's my two cents.

Controller was best for me personally and I think that it will always be becasue it's a game ported from a console but do what you want I agree the aiming was a bit floaty from what I can remember but you get used to it and can always turn down the sensitivity of the camera anyway it's a FANTASTIC game that everyone should play in my opinion!
