Fatal error on startup

I keep getting an error/crash when trying to start the game. The message reads 'Fatal Error!' and then lists several Address=0x73f1ae7a (filename not found) type items...where each address number is different.

Any help to get the game to actually play?

tried that...didn't help... my problem isn't that there is too much space taken up by the crash logs...its that the game won't even START and the information I get, when it crashes, doesn't help me

crash the game on every start or only from time to time ?
Have you in Steam make a >Game error check<?

Is your Video Card up to date ?
Have you a Soundcard or use onboard sound ? Mabye make update check.

Have you Mods of this Game ?

Install PhysX, even if on AMD GPU that doesn't use it.

A handful of games out there actually require it on your drive, whether you use it or not, before they'll even launch.

I had not played it in a long time, and forgot I uninstalled PhysX. It wouldn't launch, had same error message. As soon as I installed PhysX, it launched and played fine.

Vampyres - it was crashing on EVERY start attempt.

Frag Maniac - Thanks or that... I installed the PhysX driver and got the game to start. I haven't had time to actually get in and PLAY yet... but it seems to have sorted it out

I got the same problem but the physx didn't help.

I have about 6-7 filenames not found, validating cache did not work and the PhysX did not help as well. What in gods name is wrong with this game.

Finally I have a few days off work and I decide to sit down and actually play this. In short I'm having a similar issue to the one described, with the current or a superior version of PhysX [as the one posted above] installed. No dice. *scratches head*

Fixed the problem, if your using an AMD driver that needs updating do it now. The official troubleshooting from 2k says to check for up to date drivers. It runs perfect now, try this if you can.

Good to know, I was going to suggest looking to make sure PhysX actually installed, but looks like you got it sorted. Have fun playing it, it's a very unique game.

I had a similar problem when I tried to play the game offline. My home Wi-Fi wasn't working at the time. I turned on Wi-Fi on my phone and tried again and problem solved.

Same here, game worked fine yesterday, today it no longer does, I haven't updated or done anything, and have PhysX installed.

Yeah I got mine all fixed. Reverified files from properties. Took 8.6 seconds to download one file of <5kb: now working fine, apparently. Go figure.

Force update the game: Right click on game, properties, Local Files (tab), verify integrity of game files... wait for it (should take just a few minutes with decent internet), play
