I'm in the same boat. Just got this game yesterday on my High Sierra iMac and I'm getting the same popup as everybody else. Nothing to add, except my name to the list of people with this problem.

Perform a Safe Boot

Safe boot makes your Mac boot up with the minimum amount of drivers needed to make it work, and it checks your hard disk in the process (it might take a bit longer to boot up). To do this, start up your computer while holding down the Shift key until the Apple logo passes. If your Mac starts up with the safe boot, go ahead and restart the computer again and see if it boots up normally (as odd as it sounds this fixes the problem a surprising amount of the time). If not, it's time to give the hard drive a closer look. While in safe mode (this is optional, it can be done from a normal startup)

Repair disk permissions

1) Open Disk Utility, which is in the Utilities folder of your Applications folder.
2) Select the startup disk from the list of volumes.
3) Click the First Aid tab.
4) To check permissions, click Verify Disk Permissions.
5) To repair permissions, click Repair Disk Permissions.

Reboot

Shut down your machine. Yes, all the way down, not sleep or logging out.
Press the power button and then press command-option-p-r. ...
Hold those keys down until your Mac reboots again and you hear the startup chime.
Let go of the keys and let your Mac reboot normally.
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC); this link will explain how to do that on a desktop and on a laptop: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT201295

IT said if those dont work send my specs so ill try it out later

Safe boot doesn't fix it.

Same, when will they fix this? it has been almost 5 months now.
Diver6000 Mar 30, 2018 @ 11:20pm
Same, luckily I got it for free in the Humble Bundle sale so I will keep it until we get a fix. I hope the developers to something about it.
Same error.

I e-mailed 2K about this issue and this is the first response I got.

Thank you for contacting 2K Support!

I see you're having some trouble running Spec Ops: The Line on your Macbook. If you have Mac OS High Sierra or higher you may experience performance or launch issues. We have an article about this on our knowledge base: https://support.2k.com/hc/en-us/articles/203570026-Support-for-2K-Games-on-Mac-OS

I'm sorry this had to be your first experience with one of our classic games. If you have any more questions please let me know.

---

I followed up, asking them to confirm that if you're trying to run Spec Ops: The Line on a computer with Mac OS High Sierra that it simply won't work and that there's no fix for it. This is their reply.

---

yes, I am afraid you are right. If you are running Spec Ops: The Line on Mac OS High Sierra (or later), we cannot offer you an immediate fix. There may be an update offered in the future, but I presently do not have any information about that. Very sorry about this situation.

If you have any other question or comment about our games, please do let us know and we will do our best to help you out.

---

tl;dr If you bought Spec Ops: The Line for Mac OS High Sierra, it won't work and never will. You should request a refund.

ok that response from 2K is absolute BS, its as much BS as when i tried support for arma 3 and they sent me an email telling me how to fix arma 2 because they were using a dumb bot system to deal with support, seriously, and people have had this issue since last year and 2K can't get off there asses and fix this, that's just sad.

I don't use High Sierra, it's just Sierra and I still get the error message.

there is a fix if you delete a specific folder inside the DLC folder but its from 2013 so i doubt it still works
Spec Ops: The Line | Mac OS X Launch Bug Fix
1) Navigate to your "Library" folder
2) Go into "Application Support"
3) Then "Steam" followed by "SteamApps"
4) Then go into the "SpecOps_TheLine" folder
5) Then "SRGame" followed by "DLC" and then "PCConsole"
6) Delete/Trash the "Preorder" folder :)
7) Launch the game!

Yes I also ran into that, but unfortunately that isn't the solution any more.

I'm on Sierra and the game doesn't start for me too with the same error.
