I've always wanted to make a game — but there were just too many genres I wanted to try.

So I'd start building one, then go try something else, then yet another thing… I don't think I ever really focused on just one.

I wanted to run an inn, and build a farm, and go fishing, and add combat, and have companions, and a collection log, and crafting, and let you build your own house… and on and on…

So I figured — what if I just put in everything I want to do?

That's the game I'm making: Cinderisle.

The fish you catch aren't just for staring at in a tank — you can turn them into sashimi, too… Add one thing and something else keeps latching on right next to it.

You can even get yourself an octopus. 🐙

Every now and then you'll even land a "Perfect."

Customers who order without even sitting down properly… The least you could do is read the order while you take it, right…?

This was back when I was agonizing over how to lay out the mine entrance — how to place it so it wouldn't look off. And… I'm still agonizing over it. So much left to fix

I tried out a new tile style, and every so often it kind of grows on me. "Hmm… should I polish this a little more and just redo everything in this style?" — that kind of moment.

This transition tile looks like it has a nicer texture than the old one, and if I just drop the shadow it'd be perfect… and now that I'm looking, I want to touch up the dirt cliff next to it too…

(This is why it never ends… 😭)

There's still a long way to go. But we're getting there, one piece at a time.
