Two of my AC7 groups I joined are pretty much silent, like... you can't expect much of a niche game to be as popular as Valorant these days.
1 - No updates to multiplayer, no news, no anything. No content, multplayer games need a constant stream of new content to stay relevant. This is the main factor.
2 - Terribly niche genre, not many people interested in playing to begin with.
3 - Niche platform, most of the playerbase is on console. (Xbox still sold less than PC though)
4 - Limited multiplayer modes, lacks co-op. Most of the players are on the casual side and don't enjoy being wrecked by others.
5 - Lack of a proper anti-cheat defense. While cheaters as a whole weren't nearly as common as complainers made them to be, that probably pushed some people away from the game.
Also...
I'll say. If they release this game on PC, via Steam, they can ask Valve to implement Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC). Works well with games like CS:GO and TF2; just look around at VAC discussions. They can do it just like how CAPCOM implements VAC on Resident Evil 6, but that alone will cost some money on their end and the game's price will slightly high than usual, which to my surprise, even dishonest people can get away clean from their own (Bamco's/PA's) anti-cheat system, as if like... nothing happened (Ik like... they announced about a new implementation for blocking players who used cheats that detected by their database long ago, but today... it's pretty much outdated that people can bypass it these days). The only way is to report the player and move on.
Speaking of that, I'm not surprised that hasimoto dude's post got locked by a Valve employee for naming and shaming, which is not allowed here. I wonder which guy he insulted for cheating in MP games like this.
