In reality most AC7 planes are flying WAY faster than their real life counterpart, the MiG-31's
top speed is at 3000 km/h in RL, In game however, you can go 800 km/h more faster at high altitude with engine enhancement parts.
A-10, One of the slowest plane in game, has a top speed at 676 km/h in RL, but in game you could fly 2 to 3 times faster, almost 4 times if you have all engine enhancements and is flying at high altitude.
In terms of game mechanics, a top speed MiG-31 is almost as fast as standard missiles already.

Making planes fly even faster will just render all long range weapon meaningless, so i don't think planes actually need to be faster, some more special effects might be nice though.
Maybe Assault Horizon is a better choice for you
with the increase in fidelity came a reduction in the sense of speed, to the point that i don't even recall if aircraft create sonic booms
ace combat 3 probably had the best sense of speed, but that also could just be down to the aircraft in that game physically being the fastest in the entire series
The altimeter instrument goes ballistic. That is all.

You may be expecting more because of whatever you have seen from the secondary observer perspective. Yay relativity.
Fun fact, a pilot can break mach at slower air speeds the higher the altitude.
The more you know.

if you have a steady point of reference, say rows of buildings near ground level, the airspeed delta is much easier to make out visually, but at 30,000 feet, especially with heavy cloud cover obscuring the ground, your ability to visually gauge relative differences in airspeed diminishes somewhat
it's so much worse when you have things like hraesvelgr, aigaion or the gleipnir that have incongruent speeds and take up a large portion of your screen
no, OP didn't say "the aircraft have gotten slower", he said it "felt like they were slower", presumably compared to earlier titles in the series
That’s so weird. I suppose it’s just the perspective and lack of effects indeed because it feels like I’m hovering half the time.
