Also, it took 8 years between ACAH and AC7. It's been only 5 since AC7. Give it a bit (Infinity doesn't count since that game reused a lot of assets from AH)
And years of DEAD silence for 8, not even some alpha footage NOT EVEN unofficial leaks
AC is dead, QED
Because the studio was small, and they had other work. While their main focus would be Ace combat.
And lets be honest, if it takes them 10 years its alright. better have a good game from the start rather than something like ACAH....
But i really hope they make a better and longer story than Ace combat 7's it was pretty low quality compared to the rest of the series. But the visuals etc. Was spot on.
Not quite. The said that the next round of significant updates would come next year for the 30th anniversary of the series.
AC7 is also good but very barebones. very short, very low on content, not at all challenging. the online was pretty fun, too bad cheaters are everywhere so i stopped playing it not long after i got the plat trophy ages ago
TC, a new ace combat title is in the works. they gave an interview not too long ago (japanese only) but that had not much to do with the game itself but with their story (more like struggles) about setting up their new dedicated development studio for the ace combat franchise. bandai namco titles tend to be created as 'projects' with different teams everytime and only few constant key figures. project tekken, project soul, project aces, etc. this is an attempt to change that, albeit it doesnt seem to be going very well. they can barely find staff. japan is a rapdily aging country and since game development is more demanding than ever and the team sizes have inflated massively, it's getting harder for a bigger number of studios to find any staff, even if the studios in question are small. used to be games were created with very small teams.
i completely disagree with the above poster saying it's fine to take 10 years for a game. it's not. im fairly young but overall we're not getting any younger and especially the devs arent. i love those ps2 days where a new game in your fav franchise would come out every year or two, three. nowadays we have to wait 4-7 years for something new? ace combat games arent exactly packed with content either, they're very short and simple games to go through even at the highest difficulty level. ive played all these games at Ace difficulty where available, on my first playthrough every time and it was never particularly chalenging.
if it's a massive RPG game like baldur's gate 3 or elden ring, then no one would argue with the devs taking 5 years making those. but ace combat? why spend 10 years making a game that ppl can just clear on a friday night even at highest difficulty?
Opinions will always differ, and i respect that.
But yes 10 years is a long time. But when you almost got the very same people to make it. Would you not like them to continue to do the game the way they always did?
Regarding ac7 havn't experienced any cheaters online when i've played or atleast they were still so bad it didn't make a change but. The Ace combat 7 story it just doesn't hit me as the old legendary collection.
Either that or i am getting waay to old where i think most of the lines / story were silly.
I loved Ace combat 5 for what it was and yes a lot didn't make sense there either but it still felt way more real than this game.
But at the end of day. Ace combat is combat and it is great series. That has a lot to offer.
