You see the locked posts about multiplayer? A Valve employee locks it out, not a moderator.
I say again, we don't need Molotov Cocktails to torch the forest even further. If I were you, I would stop feeding the fire. We could be making this forum a second GTA V forums, where all sorts of ranting guys come around and complaining x and y and all that.
Edit: Clarifying the situation, the employee that come through one locked post seem to have power to lock the thread, but I don't see his name everywhere in Moderators page. I don't post the name to prevent naming and shaming, but I believe it's still there.
Example: https://steamcommunity.com/app/502500/discussions/0/2147595247327966975/
I've checked his name via Moderators page, his name didn't came up. https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/moderators
Seriously, we need a moderator here. Real bad.
Hence why it's pillarboxed to force the play area to stay the correct, functioning aspect ratio.
Oh, and look, now you call everybody that disagrees with you a 'hardcore fanboy', and make the very false claim that 'everybody' but the hardcore fanboys are angry with lack of ultrawide. Less than 1% of users use that resolution, with less than 5% of users using 21:9 or 32:9 monitors. This info is easily available simply by googling 'steam hardware survey'.
Furthermore, if the game had no customer support, they wouldn't have fixed the flight stick problems, nor would they still be working on DLC for it.
EDIT: removing misquote.
Legit want to know. My 25 hours played have been base game on hard plus all current to date DLCs. I want more, plus a reason to return to this game and play it on ACE difficulty.
Here's an article from twinfinite where they mention it:
https://twinfinite.net/2020/03/ace-combat-7-skies-unknown-dlc/
It does suck, that i'm realizing i can't play this game on the 1800 dollar monitor i just purchased to play this very type of game! So i understand his main complaint - which is not being able to play it. I to own the HAWX franchises, I've yet to even play this outside the demo i'd played a long time ago.
I hope they do add support for this feature or I find a workaround in my next search.
I personally can't get a refund, so it really sucks that i can't experience this game completely
There is a UW hack around somewhere, I'm sure google will provide instructions.
Here's a video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q72CiC_QIb4
Of note, is that this was with the UW hack plus fixes. You still have stretched UI elements, a malfunctioning section of radar, radio messages offset to the left (which the entire UI is that way without the hack) and in particular, when he is in cockpit view, the viewspace is noticeably warped and incorrect compared to what you should be seeing from cockpit view. AFAIA that's true of all cockpits when rendered in 21:9 or higher in AC7. What's not shown in that video is what happens when you pan the cockpit view all the way to the side. If it's anything like how previous AC games are when not rendered in the correct FOV/aspect ratio, it clips horribly and you end up seeing the inside of your fuselage, as well as floating engines.
No, clicking a checkbox in UE and recompiling the game will not 'fix' it. All it will do is introduce very noticeable bugs to the UI and cockpit view.
They use enforced pillarbox to ENSURE THE GAME FUNCTIONS PROPERLY.
This just isn't the case here.
Okay serious apologies here and I read a bit but it seems like this guy is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in general the community but whether to the community or this guy:
Yes, AC7 can be played in 3440x1440 without major problems since release. WSGF has a thread on it with a pyton-based uliltity and a HUD fix for the radar the only problem that I am aware of is that on mission 13 your "circle" of the bomb-call-in is infact an "oval" Otherwise you can memory edit your game. There is indeed a HUD fix to center up the subtitles and the portraits. I run all of them the and this game runs beautfiully in 3440x1440 with issues besides the former metioned.

Here is a video of this game running 3440x1440... I didn't have the subtitle fix implemented so just don't even bother on that front. The peeps have done a great job over at WSGF (one poster in particular who you can see carried the entire thread/technical knowledge.
"Would UWHD support been great out of the gate" you ask of me? Frankly, I think it hurts the game's longevity in terms of the next 5 years for it not existing, but honestly the AC community is toxic af so what do they care? IF you run a UHD/UWHD display for Ace Combat 7 fix it this way.. and forget about the rest.
I don't know what the ♥♥♥♥ else has been said in this thread and I honestly don't care but every time I check this discussion area there's some idiot who either hasn't found my Youtube Channel (by the same name) or hasn't properly searched Google - the simplest utility in all of humanity.
If some admin either wants to ban me OR contact me about making a sticky for this, that's the admin's choice. Now that game updates are perptually over it's time to let peeps enjoy the game however they want.
EDITED: Formatting and responding
I'm well aware of the fact that people have made fixes for the UI problems. That doesn't change that there were UI problems, or that the fixes themselves, while simple to install, were not so simple to make. Nor that there are still UI problems left, including practically all the UI text being made blurrier/fuzzier than it is supposed to be, because it isn't designed to be rendered for 21:9 or 32:9. This is to say nothing of the cockpit view distortion.
Of course, it's also always a bad look to self-advertise your youtube channel unsolicited, let alone act like your youtube channel is this big thing everyone should have been aware of.
Let alone calling other users idiots for not having seen your youtube channel. Ohh, and lets not forget blindly labeling the community toxic.
The game is also not finished being updated. They are still working on DLC.
EDIT: Oh, and would you look at that, the video you linked, still displays the same problems as the one I initially linked did, with the exception of the radar being fixed.
I very specifically stated that I did not read the entire thread becuase the majority of these discussions about AC7 being wide-or-not-widescreen are usually baseless and do not reference the actual solutions that someone with a niche setup (UHD/UWHD) just find answers for. Yes... very specifically, "I did not read the thread" because I was thinking.. as I had said in the intial post by me, I could provide a solution to MOST of the peeps who came to this thread looking for a UHD/UWHD solution. WSGF provides that. I'm keeping Google in mind btw because MOST of any of the stuff I google these days still doesn't lead back to that thread. You're forgetting this community is small.
When the exact ♥♥♥♥ did I call "users" idiots?!? I didn't call users idiots - I called people who don't understand that they can modify their games to 3440x1440 yet complain about it in these forums 'idiots' in the sense that they cannot seach for a niche problem that they have.
UI being out-of-res for us UHD/UWHD users is a common problem that we're used to... I'm PREPARED to face these issues and honestly out of all the people complaing on this forum idk so long as some guy has figured out how to remove the letterboxing and center the subtitles.
If they're still working on DLC after the 25th anniversary update... great.
Btw, I linked the WRONG video (human mistake). Here is a link to Fleet Destruction being played without any seeming issues.
https://youtu.be/SKGFr3aMs_E?list=PLJAO7f1-qu3K2nOnDQfabQfob_pcMDlNc
My apologies man - like I said I didn't know this thread was this heated. I'm trying to provide solutions and not problems... and no, I'm not trying to promote my YT channel... within every comment section someone usually asked me how to run AC7 like this in 3440x1440 and I answer them as best I can pointing them to the same resource.
