-as Mage 2, he'd be flying an F-16C
-as Spare 15, he'd be flying an F/A18F
-as Strider 1, he'd be flying an F-15C
Granted, Spare squadron is pretty versatile as to what kind of plane he'd be flying (though something like an F-22A at that stage would be pushing it). He may also have gotten special consideration in recognition of his skills by the LRSSG in his plane of choice, so who knows?
Also, the cinematic after First Contact shows Avril looking at an F-15C (presumably Trigger's).
As for the F-22A...maybe after the Stonehenge Defensive? They pretty much would've recognised Trigger as a top pilot and given him the choice of a higher-end plane.
And yes, in AC5, canonically Wardog would've used the F-5E at first. They would've (canonically) swapped to F-14s, at the latest, after they were branded traitors and became Razgriz.
That's what I was referring to, that they started using the F-14 after being branded traitors
Other than that, No it's official trigger used the F-16C the F-15C, and the F-22A. Though we aren't sure if he used something else in Spare squadron, we are sure he used both the F-15 and 22 at some point, he definitely had the F-22 in Lighthouse, and almost Definitively had it by Lost Kingdom, that's my question. I am aware the cutscene after mission 7 shows an F-15, but at the same time, the cutscene with Mihaly sometime after that (I don't recall when) shows him using an F-16C in First Contact, and Bandog says in that mission not to screw up these nice planes, as if they haven't had them before, and the planes they had before were expendable (or at least for trigger). What I am curious about is if Trigger used one of the crappy planes, like the Starfighter or the Fishbed, before mission 7, got his F-16 back in Mission 7, and after that got promoted to the F-15C, or maybe Strider/Cyclops gave him one. And I doubt trigger was using an F-22 before Farbanti. When we get to farbanti, does he use it there? Or does he start using it in mission 16 when they say "The new Strider squadron" or in mission 17 when the briefing officer tells you to pick a capable plane? Or maybe even by mission 19, they get an F-22 from Shilage? Though that would probably be pushing it.
F-16C as Mage 2, to keep the element with Mage 1 who was also on F-16
F-104C on Mission 5, given the least useful craft in hanger since he had the worst "sin line" status in the 444th air base
F-16C or F/A-18F as Spare 15 from M6, getting evaluated as the "somewhat useful potential" and getting allowed to use some better crafts
F-15C as Strider 1 from M11 since the teammates including Cyclops Squad were on F-15
F-22 from M17 for regrouping and moving to Tyler Isle with the best craft available
"My" Trigger just went "Screw F-16, I want some MiG and Sukhoi" btw.
My one was just like: "A F-4 is all I need."
*Last two mission Vietnam flashback*
At the final mission he could flown anything.
From mission 5 to 10, he probably flies a mig-21 or a F-104 because that is when you automatically unlock those planes in your first playthrough.
From mission 11 to 16, he probably flies the F-15C because its his squadron's plane of choice and from mission 17 to 20 he flies the F-22.
Reminder that what I'm saying is just speculation, I really don't wanna be right about the F-104, lol.
Negatory, I quoted this as the answer because I feel, besides trigger getting the F-16C in mission 10 (which I think he would get it in Mission 7) it makes the most sense to me. Not only that, but Bandog in mission 7 talks as if the plane you're flying in is suddenly worth something. I doubt the Starfighter is, so I'm guessing trigger got his F-16C back in Mission 7 since he is seen using it in a Erusian cutscenes.
