Why are the graphics so terrible ?
For a game from 2019 the graphics are really terrible in my opinion.
The models of the planes are not detailed and the details that you see are coming mostly from the textures.
These textures have such a low resolution that they are often super pixelated.
Ground textures and models such as buildings, streets etc. look like they came straight out of an old PS2 game.

What's the reason for all of that ?
A famous game series like AC should've enough budget to provide at least an acceptable level of graphics.

PS: I really like the game and thats why this point really makes me sad.
Because i would've loved to play AC7 with high resolution textures and plane models that provide a high level of detail.

i mean, you say that as though ace combat was ever a visual tour-de-force, when the only AC game that was visually impressive relative to other games at its time of release was AC3

Probably because you're one of those Internet people who hates everything

Have you checked out the guides on maximizing texture quality and draw distance? On my PC this game certainly looks better than anything PS2-era.

Good luck!!

There's sometimes issues with the texture streaming not loading the higher definition textures. You can force the textures to load or disable texture streaming in the config files.

Edit: Post a screenshot so we can see what you are referring to.

Thanks deathspeed

Well... maybe try using high texture settings? I don't know what you mean. My game looks actually quite nice and definitely not like a PS2 game.

Thank you !
That helped a bit but couldn't solve the problem in general.
The fact that they used low detail textures + models remains.

And guys, learn to read correctly.
All you say is: WTF DUDE... THIS GAME DOESN'T LOOK LIKE PS2 ???? WHAT U MEAN ???!!!!

But what i said was: GROUND TEXTURES and models such as buildings, streets etc. look like they came straight out of an old PS2 game.

One of the best examples is the last story mission in the tunnel.
Just look at the cars and ground textures there and tell me that they don't look like PS2 Era stuff.

You mentioned plane models first, it grabs attenition immediately.

As for non-aircraft detail, there is nothing you can do about it. Maybe there are some mods that can help, but this is pretty much the game. The best you can do is to force high LOD over larger distances, and the highest LOD is still pretty low.

It's like a racing game in this regard. Cars are super detailed, but when you glance at the crowds, you start seeing the seams.

You're normally going to be looking at this stuff from thousands of meters up.

Why do you even need ultra detailed ground models when you're looking at them at high speed and height
Viper Jun 8, 2022 @ 12:18am
Capcom never intended for the newer AC games to be crisp and all.

Once I played a bit beyond shattered skies I was done.

AC 7 is just all drama all none sense to make you feel all narcissistic

Play IL-2 Sturm or DCS huge difference

Plane mesh detail is insignificantly lower than that in DCS World, which has probbaly the highest plane mesh detalization by nature of the project, and there, too, majority of detail comes from texturework/PBR.

As for ground textures and terrain object detalization - I recommend launching AC04 or 5 on PS2 (or on emulator) and compare the terrain modelwork, texture resolution etc.

A tip: this game is supposed to be playable in full fidelity on original PS4/Xbox One, i.e. on hardware that is NOT top-tier for 2013.

Do you have a source regarding the poly count in AC7 ?

I used the PS2 Game Dropship as a reference.

PS4/Xbox One = Not top tier hardware for 2013 ?
I'm not sure if you have understood meaning of the terms "hardware" and "performance" then.
Games like those below have proven again and again what developers can achieve with "NOT top-tier" hardware:

- The Last of Us 2
- Uncharted 4
- God of War
- Horizon Zero Dawn
- Destiny 2
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Forza Horizon 4
- The Division
- Gears of War 5

To make use of the argument that the hardware wasn't sufficient, just proves my point.

Look at that list more carefully. Most of those titles are console exculsive, specifically built to draw every last bit of power of the console. For development of the rest some people probably died, and others sacrificed a couple of years of their lifespan. Project Aces, however, is a team of 20-30 people, working with UE4 for the first time, and releasing on multiple platforms.

Here is this compilation of pictures from Acepedia's (Ace Combat Wiki) article on the tanks, so be sure to head for the "Gallery" section:

This comparison doesn't exactly make sense, considering that we are talking about an airplane game.
