any way to make the controls feel more like Project Wingman?
hi i absolutely loved PW and wanted to play more games like it so i got AC 7, problem is the controls right now feel very clunky and im not sure what to change to make it more like PW, any help?

Mouse aim control was developed by Gaijin and first time used in War Thunder.
They have some patent for it, however something similar was used in new IL 2 Sturmovik game Battle of stalingrad , then in World of warplane and Project wingman. It is little bit controversial method of control because you don't control plane directly. You control cursor on screen and then some algoritmus tell plane how much pitch, roll and yaw have to use to follow the cursor. It is easy to use but you don't have plane full in your control and it works good only in 3th person view with static horizont.
So it is use only in several game. AC7 is not one of them.

Define clunky.

well i play with mouse and keyboard, i think the only thing that i cant find out how to do is the whole "aiming and moving with a mouse" that project wingman did so right, not sure how to describe it, i think its the same in warthunder where moving your mouse up doesnt instantly move your plane up, but instead slowly corrects the plane to point in the mouses direction

Only real differences between PW and this game are the yaw and thrust/brake are switched.

yeah and i was able to change the key bindings without issue, still controlling with a mouse is very different compared to PW and im hoping theres a way to change that

I actually started with the AC series and hopped over to PW. The one thing I did was change the controller layout (flight control-wise) to mimic AC7. That all by itself helped my gameplay immensely, not messing up my muscle memory from AC7. maybe you could do that in reverse from your PW experience.

I think it might pre-date War Thunder because that sounds a lot like the Microsoft-published Freelancer. See https://youtu.be/ct5KyH_1hPg?t=68 for an example.

The thing about space combat games is that they don't have to deal with the particulars of moving a plane correctly at all.

Adjusting the rudders to properly roll, pitch, and yaw to properly turn an aircraft (in a realistic fashion) isn't the same thing as just pointing a ship to the side with sci-fi maneuvering systems of some sort (realistically probably maneuvering thrusters placed around the ship, but most space combat games aren't very simulatory in the slightest).

That mouse aiming also existed in Wing Commander 2. If Memory Serves. That's where I first experienced it.
