Allies doing NOTHING
I cannot beat the mission where youneed to keep all the bombers away from the fake air base. Ive taken down many of them. it's kind of hard to do that when you CONSTANTLY get MISSILE WARNINGS. I have a lot of allies who ARENT KILLING ANYONE. This is immersion breaking, and has created an artificially high difficulty.

Wait, wait, wait, wait...

- Fake Air Base
- Bombers
- useless allies
- Missile spam

This is, what, mission 4? 5? Boy you're gonna have a bad time in this game.

Still, there isn't much we can do to help you, other than give you some hints on the obvious things.

- For starters, missiles don't exactly have the greatest homing abilities. A single high G turn - usually even a regular turn - can shake them off. Missiles coming at you from the side will pretty much miss by default.

- Ignore fighters. They're literally just there to farm score.

- Bombers spawn at set locations. Zoom out your radar and you'll see them before you even get the order to attack them.

- 2 missiles usually do the trick. Attack them head-on or from behind. If you fire at them from the side the missiles will miss guaranteed.

- Use flares if you have to.

- You can take a hit. It takes at least 3-4 missiles to kill you. Unlike what some people would tell you, this isn't a simulator.

Also, get used to not having backup. Allies in this game are background decoration that occasionally kill steal a ground target, nothing more.
444. I just beat it. I changed my plane and tactics.
But I'd like a mod which lets me mofidy the bad damage reduction your allies have.

anyone know an easy way to sst up the hotas warthog for this game?
well I'm using the default for my t.flight hotas 4.
Thrustmaster DOES have insturctioins on their website.

Welcome to ace combat, where you carry everyone on your back.

well, game itself want to praise you for being solo carry(you're the *real ace pilot* in lore) so they usually stay in the background pretending they're doing something

If your Allies did anything useful then they wouldn't be able to call you an Ace Pilot.

That's not really how it works.

Tbh I think it's because of the game's score element. The more your allies kill, the less score you can accumulate. Something like that.

An upgraded F-14 (or any other upgraded aircraft with LAAM or 4/6 LAAM) will easily breeze through this mission.. Just make sure your plane is equipped with an automated fire extinguisher, extra special weapons and enhanced homing/power for your standard and special missiles and you'll be just fine...

What you said is specially true for the mission 'Battle for Farbanti' where your allies actually shoot down enemies.. but even if most of the enemies have been destroyed and if you haven't accumulated enough points before the timer reaches zero the mission will be a failure...

Well, that's sort of the unwritten rule for these games.
Even in a game like Freespace which has arguably better allies there are still memes about Alpha One (the player avatar) doing basically everything.
I obviously understand I need to do most of the work. but when i see my allies killing NOTHING it breaks all immersion for me. ace combat 6 allies were competant. i dont expect brilliance. I only want competence. I didn't know there's a mission requiring x number of score. that's bad design. This isn't a minor issue for me. This is almost the central issue. If allies are indestructible then just make them killable but actually useful. This is probably the biggest problem i have with any game which has "large" battles. I think 6 had the largest and even allowed you to call in a strike support if you needed it. I realize I'm probably in the minority here. The game is GOOD as a fun game! But it's drastically cheapened to me, and I know i'm not the only one. It;s just so dissapointing. I know i'm a bit particular in this, but I've always liked the idea of being in a world where you aren't the only one. Even if it's an illusion, i want it to be convincing. If anyoen can develope a way to modify the game more substantially, I would be extremely grateful!

Allies do pretty much nothing unless the game allows them to shoot down the certain enemies, mainly non-target ones and some selective targets in later missions. That's how that works in Ace Combat games.
I'm totally confused at people struggling with Mission 5. So straight forward that nobody can mess up, right?

admittedly I am bad at games. i have some minor brain damage. However I beat mission 444 (protecting the mock airfield) by changing my plane to the f104 and using the missiles which allow long range.
