Sounds like 2000 cost games.
These articles seem to have more info than the New York Times one:

Nukes are like Chex mix, once one person starts, everyone gets going.
You think china wouldn't respond? They'd suffer a lot of fallout in the south provinces. China responds, the US absolutely has to respond.
It amazes me though, Pakistan has been nothing but antagonistic towards the US, even sheltering Public Enemy No1 Osama Bin Laden, but when they face a real, existential threat, suddenly their PM is groveling to Daddy American to come and separate the children. They didn't go to the EU or the UN Security council, they didn't go to Russia, they didn't even go to their neighbor China. They went to Uncle Sam. And nobody should let them forget it.
And as for India, I mean, what more can be said? Superpower by 2020, so sayeth the Nuclear-armed state that has yet to master the humble toilet.

Apparently, the PAF said it shot down both MiG-21 Bisons while India said it shot one PAF fighter (most likely an F-16) while losing one Bison, so in India's case it's a draw. India's MiG-21's are heavily upgraded (MiG-21-93 I believe) and are on the way to retirement with the Tejas, despite all the setbacks that project faced.
This is nothing new as both of these countries have been at war several times over Kashmir. I doubt that the situation will be escalated as both sides know that it will result in M.A.D.
That's the funniest part of all. The Pakistani Govt. still thinks that by cuddling up to us they will get more arms deals from us. We have recently gave them some AH-1Z's. I highly doubt we will give them more F-16's either as Lockheed is already offering the Block 70 to India, which by the way India will never buy as they already have the Rafale deal and if that deal goes bust, it is probably more likely they will buy MiG-35's from Russia.
What the IAF was doing in Pakistani Airspace is a question I haven't answered yet. There were no planned airstrikes after the ones from yesterday.
India will be upgrading the MKI's to Super Sukhoi standard which is the same lvl. as Su-35S. Funny thing that India actually wants more MiG-29's since they will soon be retiring their Bisons and MiG-27 Floggers. Honestly, I don't see why they don't go for MiG-35. Tejas keeps getting rejected and Rafale, as good as it is, is too expensive. It should help until FGFA and AMCA become operational.
Pakistan will most probably buy J-10's once China clears it for export so it can replace their ageing fleet of Mirage III and 5's. Not to mention they have the JF-17 becoming their "Gripen" (all-rounder) as well as their upgraded F-16's. Plus, I have a funny feeling that China and Pakistan are working together on a deal for J-31's.
