so yes... you had to buy AC7 on pre-order on the PS4 to get "remaster" of AC5 people speculate it was built from the ground up for the PS4 unlike AC6
how so?
blaze is just as faceless as every single other player character in the series, bar bishop, and has as much effect on how the story plays out, which is to say "none"
if you mean in the sense that the entire story essentially boils down to you and your squadron following in the footsteps of a prophecy, as much as you can suggest that it's a conceit unique to that particular ace combat title, it would be considered an extremely derivative trope by wider literary standards
given that entire genres - some of which are fairly popular and form the basis for, say, daytime television soap operas - are predicated on the notion of 'slice-of-life' storytelling, this isn't an assertion that you can make objectively
in the context of ace combat specifically... this is only true of the first-generation games; from shattered skies onward, namco became enamoured with the idea of having every character with a speaking role either namedrop your pilot in abject dread, or fellate them at every possible opportunity
the only way i can reconcile your point with this series is if you mean to say that you don't have an effect on how the story progresses in the same way that 5 does, which is patently untrue so long as skies of deception exists
in fact, ace combat X took that mechanic and, arguably, did it better than 5 did
for the sake of brevity, i'm not going to delve into why, but i don't think that's a very good analogy
did it?
from a storytelling perspective maybe, though i would argue that very few of the titles in the series have early missions that are as totally and completely divested from their respective plotlines as you purport them to be, save maybe AC22
from a gameplay perspective, however, i'd cite AC5 as having the single worst prologue of any modern ace combat title, simply by way of forcing the F-5 upon you for three whole missions, even in NG+
Also, the story that so many people say is so great actually sucks. It's dumb and full of terrible plot devices and twists that make no sense, and the characters are nearly all terrible. The game sucks.
Oh yeah, also, the plane grind is terrible too. Because AC5 didn't have enough bad ideas already so of course they had to throw in another one.
