When the countdown starts you are meant to attack the Arsenal Bird. Just knock down the two Main Propelers (the big ones) and you are done. No other parts of the drone airship are necessary.
Are you sure you have done this mission before? I wouldn't recommend doing a gun-only run on your first playthrough. I know you have the X-02S unlocked but that's weird.
Young Erusian Officer: Are you sure you have done this mission before? I wouldn't recommend doing a gun-only run on your first playthrough.
Me:.......no never played this mission before in my life -_-
Why, may I ask, do you recommend the MiG 21? That thing is a Soviet-Era dinosaur. Wouldn't literally ANY airplane available be better?
Aside from the Mig-21 having access to MGP, the only special weapon usable in a guns run, it also has one of, if not THE best manuverability ratios in the game.
Uh-huh ok so why couldn't you tell me that WITHOUT being a total b!tch for no reason?
Fun Fact: If you're NICE to people who look for help they are more likely to take you seriously. ;)
MiG-21 is very maneuverable, and gunpods with buffed parts will shred anything. Makes short work of drones, aircraft, ships, Mihaly, ADF-11,etc. I'd run 4 performance parts(Queen's Custom, Superior Maneuver, Variable Cycle Engine, and Airbrakes), 3 gun parts, and the fire extinguisher or another performance part(Fire Extinguisher for mission 19 def, otherwise anything that buffs Pitch or Roll). It's not about the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.
Oh ok I see. Thank you. I ALWAYS skip the MiG 21 because I'm a Military History buff and so I make the mistake of applying real world bias (EX: The MiG 21 is an old plane therefore no good) to fictional games that don't use realistic performance stats for planes.
I will try again with the MiG 21 and MGP. Thank you again for your help.
Don't be so quick to write it off. Variants of the MiG-21 are still in use today. I believe Romania retired their MiG-29s in favour of upgrading their MiG-21s since it was more economic. It's still got quite a bit of fight left in it yet!
Well that makes sense. The Soviets, unlike the US who build stuff on the cheap, built sh!t to last. That's where the stereotype comes from of old Soviet technology coming back to haunt people.
EDIT:
Should also note that the MGP doesn't benefit from the autoaim part, so against ground targets it tends to seem less effective compared to normal MG with that part. Against air targets that part is a malus, not a benefit, so having mgp allows you to keep the part for ground target ease of access, while also having a seperate option for shredding air targets without the auto-aim interfering.
I used the MGP MiG for my gun run, using standard mg for most ground targets, and the MGP for air targets. Only ran low on MGP on mission 19, and that was with a LOT of wasteful hosing.
