If you're REALLY good, you can unload some MG into them, which can and will destroy any missiles they fire as well, though this technique typically requires the US Vulcan machine gun, not the Russian 25mm Autocannon. (Couple Russian planes have a Vulcan, namely the Mig21 and 31)
Based on OP's description, I think he means the full Kulbit, because the aircraft changes direction, but either way, when they start a Kulbit, missiles and guns can both score serious damage if you're ready.
Strange, I've never actually seen Sol Squadron do this, (Hard/Ace Only player), normally they do the full Kulbit since it leaves them less vulnerable than the Cobra.
