They don't kill enemies so fast, can't hit their targets at all, and that they don't even give you the points you need to complete a objective which is big downsight of this game, thanks to the timer...
If they made the allies too strong, they would just play the game for you.
Only really in AC5 and AC0 but ONLY because you could actually control them and say they should target X Enemy ... here it isnt that case.
AC5 wingmen weren't that great, but Pixy was a bit too good at times.
Fair enough, but for pixy it was also for the overall story that he would be a little bit better then the rest of the AI because of the ending so you would have also the feeling that he is really a ace like yourself.
I was actually playing one of those missions where you have to get a certain score to pass and as I was about to kill an enemy fighter an allied missile swooped in and stole the kill which actually irritated me lol.
rena is the only one of 3's wingmen that's even mildly competent at their job, and that's only up until scylla and charybidis; after that, enemy aircraft start to reach parity with the super flanker
your wingmen in 5 are also complete - and annoying - wastes of space who are only useful in exactly one mission - that being 8492, where they are unaffected by the jammer aircraft and effectively mark the real aircraft on your minimap
x doesn't even have wingmen, but that's probably for the best
and 6's wingmen only 'do' things when you level up your support gauge, otherwise they just hang around, like furniture
Heh, I used wingman in AC2 when there were stealth aircrafts and set him/her to fight enemy aircrafts. Was a pain in the ass to look for them otherwise.
