Still, I'll be using this until they fix the damn game and if they don't fix it then it's the last ace combat game I'll ever buy. I still have plenty of fun with hawx 2 and aside from the clouds hawx 2 has basically better visuals.
It's important to use this software at your own risk.
An alternative is to use steams controller settings treat your stick as an xbox onoe controller and map everything to your liking. You won't get correct hat button camera movement, or correct throttle axis control, but pitching and rolling will work just fine.
Just remap the throttle and rudders to buttons instead of axis's. This is still far from real support but at least it lets you use your stick.
Usually when a game thinks something like this is cheating is because it detects memory values being modified or dll injection and some input emulators do both and the detection software really can't tell if it's because of cheating or something benign like controller modification.
I have the Hotas Flight X which is basically identical to the official stick for this game so if they don't support it this is the last Namco game I buy for quite some time... Unless I can get it used on Xbox one X, that way I get good quality visuals but Namco doesn't make a dime.
Personally mapping buttons to axis controls feels horrible (yes, I tried that too at a certain point) and the Steam controller settings menu I find is rather inscrutable and for some reason it screwed up the mouse cursor when I tried to use it.
I map them to the keyboard and use my dominate hand for the fightstick while using my non dominate for those keyboard controls. In a way it's slightly simliar to having your non dominate hand on the throttle albeit with button pressing instead of an axis.
W and S for throttle, Q and E for rudder, 2 for an easy high g turn button press.
Rolling, pitching, shooting, and weapon selection are all done with my joystick.
It works decently well. I still would love to have native support though.
Maybe aftter some time passes and x360ce is shown safe to use in the longterm I'll try it, but for now I''ll stick with the set up I have currently.
Ditto on the steam controller setting menu it sucks and the mouse cursor doens't work quite right for me either.
