So they also asume some people might buy the Ps4 version over the PC version just to play on the most populated platform.
If the game has corss play it kinda kills the incentive to get it on PS4 over PC for people who have more than one gaming system.
But then again i think there might not be that many people who do this.
I have a Ps4 and i still havent payed a dime for PS+. I only play offline games on my ps4 and only exclusive ones.
Because PC MASTER RACE!!!
-Kidding.
Even though PC is better and more customizable, I have a nephew who only has an Xbox, and his parents aren't going to be buying him/let him have a PC, so it would be cool to be able to hang out together as family despite having different platforms.
At this point, not having crossplay in a game that has online play is just lazy af. We have tiny indie games with crossplay across all systems these days. They could have at least do PC to 1 console crossplay.
The answer is yes, this is essentially how peer pressure works on children (on adults too, to a degree). A kid feels excluded if he can't play on the same platform with his friends. Console companies exploit this with exclusives.
Crossplay should be LEGALLY mandatory for any multiplatform title, i.e. you can't legally sell your game unless you provide crossplay from day 1.
Kids don't buy consoles, most of those who ask their parents will get a "no" as answer. Like I said years ago, only a minority of people do that.
