bought it preorder.
If you just want to jam through the story and forget about it, wait for a sale.
I think is worth to buy the standard edition alone.
the game works fine except few bugs on fps drops for SLI setups.
So there is that.
But all else aside, its a return to form and a fun one.
The game itself is awesome. It's great comeback.
Graphically it's wonderful, until you get very low to the ground and see how low res the ground/world is when compared to the aircraft. Missions are normally fun. Wish the game had about 10 more missions though, it feels too short, and despite feeling short it doesn't even have enough cutscenes for the 20 missions the game has so many missions have no intro cutscenes.
Story is fine, I thought it was fine, though I see a number of people dislike it. This is coming from someone who didn't like Ace Combat Zero's story, and I know I will get flak for even saying that. Ace Combat Zero is like the Fallout New Vegas, ie Holy Grail in the eyes of some.
I really like the aircraft customization. I just wish SP weapons were handled better. Not enough options available, and some like 8AAM and 8AGM are just inferior to their 4AAM and 6AAM counter parts.
I think the game works great on PC. I even played it with mouse and keyboard for a while, and I didn't have much of a problem after remapping controls. I'm currently using a PS3 Controller with "Steam Controller." Works out great.
My only complaint is I think Rudder Control on a Controller on this version of the game is the worst I've seen. Though I'm used to the PS2 games that had pressure sensitive buttons, something Steam Controller does not support, and ya why XBox Controllers will forever suck.
I use an XBONE controller works great.
-- I will say, I think 8AAM is super niche, I only ever found it useful while trying to unlock a skin on mission 11 (clear all aircraft before they take off). The tracking is horrid, the reload is god aweful... oddly better range though. than the other XAAM.
-- The 8AGMs on the other hand . . .
I miss the old UGB sight it's easier to aim. I think. Also I think the flare button mapping and autopilot should switch sides. because the accidental change in views while trying to deploy flares is annoying.
Of course a lot of the mechanics are completely different, for example, most ground targets don't die immediately when you sneeze on them, some take quite a bit of firepower, an Aircraft Carrier can eat an Exocet and a missile after that, though two SFFS direct hits get the job done.
Since it's on the PC you can get even better graphics than what you normally could: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1643119916
