Alright.
Yes, he lets his ego get in the way of seeing what he was actually doing, but he lost his country, so as it’s mentioned several times in the game, the sky is his home, and he’ll do anything to continue flying.
There’s nothing about him to hate. I felt anger when he shot down Brownie in my first play through, which is a testament to the combination of great voice acting and the music, but as the game went on, I couldn’t be properly angry at him. He was just doing his job, same as Yellow 13 was.
Yellow 13 was a more interesting “villain”, I’ll agree on that, but AC04 had a better story in that area anyway.
but only to find an endless despair while Pixy found some hope on land by being rescued. He would be even happy if Trigger actually got him. It might be not the best conclusion, but imo the saddest, "worthy consequence" for the King of Sky.
I don't think he was a bad villain, while I agree on the haters to some extent. He is definitely "post-Akula". He is ANNOYINGLY strong, at least in the first encounter, because he kinda denies the physics, flying as if he feels absolutely no G and neg. G stress.
But other than that, he did what I think an AC villain should do: killing my friends, blocking my way as a super strong ace pilot, stating tons of memorable quotes (and memes), and most importantly, having one full-fledged showdown along with me growing as a good pilot. Actually he's as memorable as Yellow 13 imo.
"That damn three strikes! I'll get him next time!"
I actually liked the sort of ambiguousness of ACZero, you, the Demon, were pretty much the villain, yet not. Made Pixy a really interesting character.
In a break down, it seems, maybe just to me, that there wasn't enough between you as Three strikes, and Mihaly. A scene as mentioned above would have actually made the connection pretty strong, wouldn't have even had to have been anything more then that, a short five second bit of him cursing you as Three strikes.
The closest I got to satisfaction against him, is the later fight, where everyone just gets the hell out and you put some nice big holes into him and he limps away.
Maybe a DLC mission, where two old men get into their planes one final time, or at least one old man.. And set to the clouds once more, with the intention of only one returning, no war, no real animosity, just to settle it, once and for all.
I can just see it...
Mihaly: "Come, Three strikes, let us settle this li.." *Gets splattered by laser beam wildly whipping around the sky* "FALKEN PAAAAWNCHED!"
........ Yeah.
