Is this similar to Tabletop Warhammer 40k?
I love the table top but the models are expensive as balls. Is this the game that unites the tabletop in videogame form or is it different. i would love to know before i buy.

Seems fairly close. from what I played, it does give me a tabletop feel it it, and the models look like they been done by a pro. the way that the models look, might not be how everyone wants it. But anyway, as for the game, so far so good, the terrain looks good, there is a working cover system in place. The AI seems pretty decent, and can flank, and run away. in the first mission, you need to push forward to capture a coms station, (in a limited amount of turns) so you can't sit there and let the enemy come to you.

There are a good range of units. I don't think its possible to customise the units mind, but they do gain XP, and get better as the compaign progreses.

The game model is completely different to the tabletop but we aim to produce the same kind of results so the kind of interactions you would expect on tabletop will work here. So strengths and weaknesses will be similar and you should be able to pick and play without learning the details of the rules if you already know the tabletop.

is it possible that in the future we will see other factions or be able to build our own armies like tabletop?

It is possible to build your own missions in the editor (thus choosing the units per side), or to build your own skirmish mods which utilise a custom army list.

IMO this is the closest GW has allowed a game to get close to their TT version

The campaign missions I am doing allow me to pick a force up to 1600 points

Basic greyhunters cost between 120-180 depending on flamer/bolter/melta and blood claws 100 for example

We deploy on a map and fight over VPs until the turn timer ends

Squads are composed of a number of individuals...you can take damage up to a threshold before these individuals start to die off and the squad loses effectiveness as a whole (i.e., wound sharing from TT)

Its not a dead on 100% port but it feels close and fun so far

as someone who cannot possibly afford or paint said purchasable minis, this is a great alternative. And I believe it will only get more polished with time.

EDIT: Just checked the tag for a squad of Deathwing terminators- 50 USD for plastic- outrageous...

The only thing we need now is a total tabletop simulator with custom painting, load outs and all factions.
