Each character also only has one super not counting transformations. While in pirate warriors to me having two different ones that did the same had no gameplay purpose per say. I liked being able to switch up what flashy move I wanted to see on screen.
The amount of characters is also very small you have 8 in total. Each character does have tools they can use as well.
Battle on the map lack that side vs side feeling to me here as well. I never noticed sides pushing each other so much like i would in pirate or zelda warriors.
I'm going to stop here before I type even more but I do like this game still but objectively just comparing it to other musou games I would say its middling.
You will probably like it if you like Berserk and Dynasty Warriors games, but it doesn't hold the comparison to SB.
I mean, it's not a Musou that is made by the creator of Musou - Omega Force.
I disagree.
Gameplay in Musou games developed by Omega Force (Sub-team of Koei) is wastly superior to musou clones developed by other developers.
I haven't played Sengoku Basara, but i have read one review that criticized it for using same maps and being untrue to the original source (Warring States Period)
Also, Map interactivity? Why the heck would i need that? I want to kill thousands of enemies, not pushing rocks.
If you don't like Berserk though, you probably wont like it.
Gameplay-wise for me, it feels very catrhartic to run into a crowd of ~100 enemies and just slash people to bits. It has dodge-sprint mechanics that a lot of the warriors games lack (which IMO already makes the gameplay better than a lot of them), and each character is different in movesets, appearance, and special power enough to not get bored for awhile.
There's also a sense of progression with outfits and such; as you move through the game you unlock outfits (and therefore new skills and movesets) for the characters from different periods of time.
