Running sluggish and choppy.

I thought the steam version would remedy these problems. I was just wondering if anyone knows how to fix the sluggish and choppy movement in this game. I am on Windows 8. Maybe a step by step guide on how to fix this. As a whole it runs fine and nothing messes up but its just slow and choppy in some areas especially with a lot of stuff around. Thank you.

Thank you but it doesnt. I need something with steam instructions. On top of that I dont even know how to download the unofficial patch. When downloading the patch it asks for a destination folder and I dont know where. I tried steamapps common arcanum and it says its not installed. Any ideas what I can do? The page indicates downloading the unofficial patch, the hi-res patch, Rename/remove the ddraw,dll in the Arcanum directory. then running it -window mode, inwhich I would need the patch. I have no idea how to do any of this.

Yeah, picked this up from this morning's humble.
Just quickly downloaded and slapped the widescreen fix on to give it a look before heading off for work, had some pretty sluggish gameplay on my end too.

Will check out that GoG link and tweaks later on also, cheers.

Mine is beyond choppy and sluggish. Mine is just broken. Windows 10.
Guess I'll give all this a try and see if I can get it working.....

ThatDarnOwl's guide wasn't working for me--still laggy--until I used Drowning Witch's link. Now works like a charm on win 10. Thanks.
