This works for L4D2, not for L4D1.

Is it possible to buy/activate l4d1 from another country to bypass censorship, like using VPN, change settings, and then buy it?

you're gonna have to remove it from your library and have someone outside of the censored areas gift it to you

Yes, that was my question. I have seen screenshots on forums where valve employees forbid that action with a threat of deactivating the account.
How did they even know this? is there an algorhythm that watches users location and purchases of games (mainly for price reasons as many games are cheaper in poor countries)?
I am planing a trip to moscow, could i take my laptop with steam and purchase l4d1 there, without getting punished for it later, when i am back in germany?

Ich dachte schon die würden l4d1 nicht in Auftrag geben, da l4d2 praktisch das erste Spiel mitbeinhaltet und l4d1 kaum gespielt wird.
