What happened to the OLD Op4 models? Edit: Fixed!
I liked the old models way better than the new ones, it wasn't long ago when I realized I had the HD pack installed BY ITSELF. There's no options for that in the options menu, I tried installing the pack, then un-installing it, NOTHING seems to work, I'm guessing the update automatically installed it the HD pack for everyone. Is everyone experiencing this? Or only a few people? I need answers...

You can now switch between original oldschool models and modern HD models. Go to the Options -> Video tab and checkout "Enable HD Models if available".

Yes, only on HL1.

I get this too! And I've installed custom models, but the "hd" models are overriding the custom models I've installed! I've figured out its reading from "half-life high definition.gcf", but aren't the models/files you have in your game directory (<username>/opposing force/gearbox/models/ or sounds/ gfx/ etc, supposed to take precedence over .pak and GCF contents?

Yes, only on HL1.

You mean only HL1 has this option, correct?

I do see the checkbox when I run HL1, but in Op4, the video options tab are the same old settings/options:

Renderer, Resolution, Display Mode (WS/normal), Color Quality, Run in Window, Brightness, Gamma

none of the new checkboxs like vsync and allow custom addon content

So then I tried copying OptionsSubVideo.res from common/Half-Life/valve/resource/, and put it in opposing force/gearbox/resource/, but still nothing.

I'm actually suprised someone responded to this discussion after weeks since the last reply.

The option has been added to the beta, but it hasn't been rolled out to the live version yet. Dunno when Valve is planning on doing that.

So, sounds like eventually this will get fixed...

I'm wanting to use Op4 for the RATS mapping compo on gamebanana, and its just annoying when something screws up the way I have my games set up.

Too many times I get:
New & Improved Update!
=
go spend hours re-researching and re-figuring out how to re-setup your game to your liking....

This really irritates me. The old models are better.

Guys, just set the game to the Steam Beta. Then you'll have the option in the video settings.

The problem is, steampipe beta is as BROKEN AS HELL. I'm missing more than half of the soundtracks, I wasted SO MUCH TIME trying to find a solution to this fatal error I get at the start menu, the options menu barely even works. It's a mess and I want my Op4 like it used to be, it didn't even need and update...

Er, what?

The beta version has all the soundtracks last time I checked. I even personally went through and check to make sure the right tracks line up with the right filenames shortly after that feature was implemented. Could you post a list of the tracks that aren't working for you? Also, try verifying your Op4 install to make sure all 19 mp3's downloaded properly.

I don't know the names of the tracks, the new version of Op4 probably isn't downloading properly for me, because re-installing should be able to fix any files that were not installed properly.

So apparently there is a playable beta version of Opposing Force on Steam? How do I play this "Steam beta?" And it sounds like you guys are saying the original Op4 soundtrack plays instead of the HL one, which would be awesome! I too agree that the Op4 old models look better. Lolz I stumbled upon a good thread.
Harper137 Jun 4, 2013 @ 11:18pm
Wait, guys! Opposing just received an update! It "converted it to a more efficient format" and downloaded new things. Now we just need them to do it for Blue Shift as well...
Harper137 Jun 4, 2013 @ 11:43pm
Ok, I'm not really sure what just happened, but the update for the old models vanished!! >.< Steam! Y U NO MAKE SENSE??

Well, at least I got the original soundtrack working in Op4. Time to change the one for Blue Shift
