Bots for Opposing Force

Hi guys,

Can anyone point in me the direction of some bots that I can download for the Steam version of Opposing Force ?

I did find the jkbotti bot (http://forums.bots-united.com/forumdisplay.php?f=83) but for the life of me I can't get it working with my Steam copy of Opposing Force.

Any help will be appreciated.

Not sure if you're still looking but if I'm not mistaken I use to use Botman's Bots. I haven't tried it myself with the Steam version of HL:OF but installing it now and I'll give it a whirl possibly later today. Here's the link if you wanna give it a go yourself. Good luck! :)

Thanks, I actually found that link as well, but it's another bot that one needs to setup with metamod (which I have difficulty in setting up). If you do get it working, please list your steps, I'll really appreciate it :)

Couldn't get jkbotti bot working unfortunately but got Botman's Bots working like a charm. Here's the steps, let me know if you need me to clarify anything. Good luck! :)

1.Downloaded Metamod:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/metamod/files/latest/download

2.Created folders in HL:OF directory (Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\gearbox\):

addons\metamod\

3.Unzipped metamod.dll from metamod-1.20-win.zip into:

Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\gearbox\addons\metamod

3.Created backup of liblist.gam (located in Half-Life\Gearbox dir)

4.Opened liblist.gam with notepad

5.Replaced line gamedll "dll\opfor.dll" with:
gamedll "addons\metamod\metamod.dll"

6.Confirmed succesful install by starting up HL:OF bringing up console and typing:

meta version

7.Created plugins.ini file in metamod directory (addons\metamod)

8.Downloaded hpb_bot_4_0.exe from:
http://www.moddb.com/games/half-life-opposing-force/downloads/botmans-bots-hpb-bot-40

9.Installed to proper half life directory:
Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life

10.Ran install.bat found in this directory:

Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\HPB_bot\gearbox

11.Confirmed bots are working by starting multiplayer game in HL:OF :)

When I run the install.bat file in that directory it says "Metamod is not installed, cannot find plugins.ini ":(

I did create the metamod folder like you instructed.

Do you have a plugins.ini file ? What's inside it and where is it located ?

Ah right forgot to list that! You have to create the file yourself. Just create a new text file in the metamod directory and rename it to plugins.ini, make sure you can edit/see extensions so it doesn't end up being plugins.ini.txt. I don't recall if install.bat does this or if I had to manually input this into plugins.ini but it should only contain this:

win32 dlls/HPB_bot_mm.dll

That should do it hopefully! :P

Looks like it's in French, anyhow to get through the install just select
"Installer" and you should be fine.

Recon Wolf I installed jkbotti which works like a charm (it automatically added 11 waypoints in dm_office along withs some paths, just enough to allow 3 bots to flank around and jumpscare me with a pistol or shotgun) and Op4 it has all DM maps! But how do you play with Op4 CTF with bots?

Just reinstalled the game and tried it out myself, still works. Maybe it's overwriting the liblist.gam file? You can try and set it to read only after making the change to the gamedll line. Other than that I'd say try all the steps again. Hope you get it working!
