And you are getting stuck while using a walkthrough?
Just look to your left or right every once in a while.
I originally tried the vent in the elevator's ceiling, but since it was off the ground, I thought I had to JUMP into it instead of WALK into it. I kept falling off this way, and eventually thought this wasn't what I was supposed to do. So, I tried to climb up and jump off the ladder onto the elevators roof, but kept dying of fall damage. I then consulted IGN's walkthrough, which said:
"Use the access ladders on the walls to make your way downward, and jump onto the roof of the crashed elevator. Climb across the elevator roof to the office floor."
JUMP ONTO THE ROOF
Since I had been doing that the entire time, I obviously thought I was doing something wrong, and since I couldn't find any help regarding this online, I decided to come here. Then I looked at another walkthrough that confirmed I had it right the first time and had to use the vent. It was a simple communication error.
Others on here suggested I be more aware of my surroundings, and I decided to try this with Opposing Force. So far, it has worked quite well, and this game feels much more easy than the OG Half-Life as a result. I've looked up walkthroughs much less than I did with the OG.
I will admit that I am not a very patient person. I often find myself getting frustrated at games that are widely considered as easy, Super Mario World being an example (ridiculous, I know). It was both a mistake and a waste of time/resources to create so many posts when I could have just dug a little deeper. I understand how that could be annoying, and I apologize for that.
But I think you're being a little rude, no offense intended. I misinterpreted someone's misspelling and asked for a solution when I thought there wasn't one. Many people here -yourself included- would have probably done the same. Likewise, if you don't have anything worthwhile to contribute to the discussion, then don't say anything at all. Don't waste other people's time like I did with my seven posts.
However, you did open my eyes and made me realize that I need to tone it down a notch. I thank you saving me from future embarrassment.
Again, I don't mean to offend you or anyone else, and I'm sorry for making you read this wall of text. I hope you have a nice day.
patience is another key of passing through the games. you cant just rush head first in all the action, you feel me?
keep playing mate, and if you get stuck again, please take 5 minutes of looking around before looking up a walkthrough and/or posting here.
this is one of the bad ones on the forum. best thing to do is not acknowledge them.
No, I didn't? You sure you are not mistaking me with someone else?
