is opposing force a dlc or a game?
wen i see o steam the opposing force it dosent say is a dlc but people say is a dlc

It's a seperate game you don't have to own HL1 to play it.

not a dlc,an expansion pack. a separate continuation of the story from a different character.

put it simply,expansion packs are different games with their own stories,dlcs are additions to an already existing game

I don't remember if the WON version required you to have the base game installed to make it works.

Well, DLC is just another way of saying add-on and downloadable content existed since the late 90's.

Yes it did. Also, DLC did not exist back in the 90s and early 2000s.

Yes it did. Also, DLC did not exist back in the 90s and early 2000s.
So the game just became a standalone with the Steam release then.

Technically a DLC could also be a patch or an update, the early internet could allow you to get some new content in your game.

Anyways, Opposing Force was an expansion pack for Half-Life until it came out on Steam.

yeah, but today Steam just downloads the files you need from the base game that are needed to run the expansions. not just for hl, i have the Quake expansions and it works the same.

Blue Shift did had a standalone release back in 2001.
