Still no Software mode in Fullscreen?
I'm bouta head out.

Also FPS is weird in Software and also upping the FOV past 90 makes the guns disappear.

I know, still doesn't look as good as Software mode sadly, i.e turn on soft-ware mode and run it windowed of course and look at the goo texture, a lot better, I'll share a screenshot.

If staring at nuclear waste in a video game is your thing then do whatever; but I still don't get why people care so much about software vs opengl when both of them look straight like ♥♥♥♥. I play at extremely low res stretched anyway.

"♥♥♥♥" I think the game looks great lol, and why are you playing at crappy low res stretched?

Game is ♥♥♥♥ in terms of quality, but it's graphics aren't eyebleeding which is why you think it's "great". I play at crappy res because high(er) res distorts the game's feel. 640x480 has always been my go-to, though I play 1024x768 in Source games.

Weird but ok

Play at 640x480 if you want good fps. Software mode is for pcs without proper graphics accelerators, so it uses the CPU for rendering, which is worse at rendering.

What OS are you using? On Linux and Mac O.S., software renderer is disabled. This is because it uses direct x rendering libraries. Those are windows-only. That, and Gabe Newell was one of Windows's architects. So, he likely, knew those libraries best.

This entire post is mainly a joke, but what I'm saying is that software works in windowed but not fullscreen, and I'm on Windows 10
