Stuck on pit worm level

I know how to solve it, but its glitching out and wont let me turn the valve. it plays the sound of it turning but nothing happens. The lights also dont turn on. Is my game completely broken and i have to restart from the very beginning or is there a solution? Please help, this is very frusterating...

Did you get in the lower area? because you need to activate the gearbox as well.

You need to do a couple of things in sequence to be able to get rid of the Pit Worm.

Yeah I did everything. The gearbox and the valve lever.

I got fed up with it so I used noclip to skip it. Hopefully my next playthru it won't happen

The solution I found was to just go to no clip mode and skip the Pit Worm level completely, to do that, you can do that by typing in the console
sv_cheats 1
After writing that, you type:
noclip (to enable noclip mode)
After you fle around the Pit Worm and into the next chapter, you type into the console:
noclip (to disable noclip mode)
It's sad that you have to skip a chapter of the game, but its just a puzzle, you aren't losing much

There are 3 things you need to do before flusing the worm

1: turn on the gearbox
2: open the steam vent
3: turn the pressure valve

If you did not do "2", then 3 will make the turning noice but won't turn.

2: is found on the top level just before you jump to "3" (look to your right when on that platform)

I had this problem but after reading this realized I forgot the steam vent lever. I know it's a long ago post but it wasn't properly answered until now. No clipping isn't a fix. Thank you!

noclipping definitely was a fix, because you just trigger the next level transition. its up to you if you want to cheat or not but it works fine. Also, I'm not sure what order did it in a million years ago, so it is possible that i did it in the wrong order, but skipping is a viable option.

So I used F6 right before the slide down the air duct.
I crouched into ramp down and I jumped right before loading screen.
I was in mid air when Load completed and slid down the rest of the ramp.
