Is there tactical pause in this game?
Or the "full-on real time approach" on the store page means there isn't?

Only a slowmo option
Dev Konstantin  [developer] Jun 27, 2017 @ 1:22pm
We are adding time controls to the campaign, allowing to slow-down, speed up and pause.

However when it comes to the RTS battles, for now we only feature a bullet-time slowdown. Later on we plan to add a better option to pause and issue commands.

Thanks. I guess I'll check back later then.

The idea of a tactical pause sounds great. I will be all for it to add that in.

I use ad this moment the ESC key and works fine for me

True - but full game speed controls are in progress. Though you`ll only be able to speed up in the campaign (as well as slow down), as far as the battles, we can only make the bullet time slower, so it will seem like a tactical pause.

Just curious... Why is it possible to have full stop active pause in so many other games and not this one?

Full Active Pause is a widely expected thing now... even with the elitists no-pausers saying gitgud or it's realtime not pause time blabber...
seems like a shot to thine own foot to not add full tactical pause.

Really really slow is not the same thing.
It's distracting or squirrelly compared to a precision Quick full stop pause for tuning orders.

tldr
IMHO and knowledge of the old fart gamer friends I've known...
Some nopause=nobuy people out there will just be "oh well" and move on without commenting about it here on the internets.
Older people and stapler horders don't want to be exposed to these kinds of interactions.

Hey all, just wanted to say that in todays update happening later today we have done the following:

-Added Tactical pause feature - pause and issue commands - to the battles and Town Managment
richw-50 Jan 9, 2018 @ 3:36pm
seems to me pause and issue commands eliminates the real time strategy part of game.

will make it even easier but a lot do ask for it, if enough people want something its worth doing

Although I cant see me using it after 1 st minute of a battle its great to set ctrl groups without that blue screen from slo mo, plus its good for guide vids
AI only knows one move and thats full head on sucide charge in field battles so a bit of time to set ctrl is good

so on the basis of practically every player wanting one thing how about unit cards now?

Thank You.. I really wanted to buy this game!

What's the ETA for the completed game release?

If I valued a keyboard/mouse challenge with my warfare I wouldn't use the pause.
Good thing no one has to use it.

I dunno. I almost always use "Pause-Issue Commands" in RTS games such as Rise of Nations & Age of Empires. But in MKW, so far anyway, I haven't found it necessary to pause -- and I would use the Slo-Mo feature only to take a bathroom break, only the battle is usually over by the time I think about actually standing up.

At the beginning of siege battles & field battles there is more than enough time to set Control Groups. For field battles, as Evil just pointed out, the AI does its suicide charge right into your 3 regiments of strong melee units, or two melee regiments & an archer regiment -- either way the AI dies quickly, and you can select one of your battalions to go kill the AI rams & ladders and get enough XP to get promoted.

Yeah, probably true that it's not needed for the average good gamer.

I probably could play fine without it even with my dusty bones and bad eyes, but...

.. I create, in my mind (or by modding if available) my own challenging goals to most games... and really dig trying different outside the box strats and tactics...
.. not just the obvious winning ones that the "elitist" go for.

Replayability!!!
Radically changing strats and/or tactics and raised bars for winning adds replay value.

Pause makes that more possible and certainly much much more fun.

Then there are people who simply can't physically keep up with even the slow or little bit of micro without a quick pause when needed..
... eyes that can't see or single things out to select while they're moving (even slowmo can mess with the eyes)

All those problems happen for some even if their strategic brain is fine.
All people who love RTS should be able to play by adding an option that hurts no one who don't want to use it.

Thought for devs, for people who hate pause, Maybe add a toggle in settings that can't be changed in a playthrough or per battle.
For those that can't resist....

You hit the nail on the head!:steamhappy: Yeah, my poor old eyes + slow reaction time sometimes --- I do know that in many RTS battles I will select a unit to attack an enemy, only when I give the attack order I miss the enemy & give a move order instead. So a quick pause is necessary to actually make the attack order clear by right-clicking on the enemy I want attacked.
