Thanks for the kind words, and yeah - later this summer diplomacy will finally get to the the diplomacy.
First of all I must mention that there`s one related bug in-game - lets say you just conquered a town from another faction, and some army was on the way to attack this town before you conquered it. AI army is support to just find another target, instead it will display attack dialogue (if you choose auto-resolve, battle actually will not happen and AI army will march off to another target). We`ll fix this in the next update. And I got a feeling this might be happening with your own faction lord attacking you (we didn`t yet code that behavior).
The only way your own faction lords would attack you if your standing with your King is less than -9.
Alliances for the moment are simple place-holders that don`t really do anything (it just shows which nation was allied to what nation at the start of the game). Soon we`ll change that and add all the benefits of the alliance (being able to invite allied armies into battles on your side e.t.c)
Oh also if you haven`t yet, please consider reviewing the game:)
